I really dont think we will ever see good health reform at the national level. To many people with their hands on the plan. Carving it up to keep their little chuck of inefficiency.

I think states, if so inclined should be able to opt out of Medicare or any national level health care program, as long as they provide for it in the state level. That way a state could implement a complete single payer system for all of its citizens.

This is better for the donor states (which are often more progressive anyway) and the welfare states can keep their private run programs, and receive less money from the federal government (Which would make them happy right? ).

So, we will leave it up to the states to deprive the folks residing there of choice and competition? What a fcuked up world we live in.

Yeah, if you want the public option you better vote Progressive.

ps. Not just Democratic, but Progressive. Not all D's are true Progressives.

Well, there are lots of states where my progressive vote makes little difference - FL being one of them.

Awww... isn't it cute... You leftists using "positive" wording, like "progressive", to describe your seething liberalism.

I don't accept this either. Its only a stepping stone to eventually forcing it on everyone.

Well the liberals, aka conservative party of Australia, is progressive. How ironic for the name hey?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Wait a minute!

Are you telling me after we have listened to the left swear up and down that "Healthcare is a human Right"... and now they are gonna accept, in fact suggest a plan whereby some people will get these "human Rights" and some won't due to their zip code?

What a bunch of Phonies.... how do you suggest (and then celebrate) the bargaining away of "human rights"?

*vomit*

So your rep is a Capitalist-Jesus loving patriot. Good for you, we should all be so lucky.

That said, the decision to opt-out will not be up to your Congressional Rep (Bachmann) but up to the state itself. State legislature or the Guv.

MN is pretty blue at the state level. I don't see us opting out if it was an option.

Nobody cares about Australia. They're irrelevant.

Sure as hell richer than your poor azz. Their unemployment rate just drop to 5.7%, while the median house price just increased to $468K. With a median salary of $52.1K. So who is irrelevant now?

PS If they're irrelevant, then what the hell is Detroit let alone Michigan to America. A nobody, a has been. Hence why no body wants your crappy cars. You can buy homes for $55k in Michigan. 8.5 homes required to buy one median home in Melbourne. I won't embarrass you with Michigan's (aka Chernobyl 2.0) unemployment rate.

Why would any state opt-out?

... unless your state could opt-out of paying for it.
