Working in America with a Green Card

My husband is looking for work and has come across a few jobs. Most seem to be under the table, which bothers me. Should I be worried if he works a few days a week under the table? We will be removing conditions in about two years...he just got his green card in August. Has anyone had experience with approaching managers about putting the pay on record or any advice about the risk of taking a job that pays under the table.

If you get caught then it will be considered income tax evasion.

Thanks for the feedback. I need to talk with my husband about this and see if he can do a 1099 or refuse any work that is not on the books.

Sure he can refuse to work under the table. They will give the job to one of the many people who would love to get full pay, even if i's not much. He will have to find another job somewhere.

Yeah, he needs to refuse those kinds of offers which don't really benefit anybody. He's now a permanent legal resident so there's no way for them to pay him in cash only.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the feedback. My husband was able to find a good job and we just filled out a W-4 and the I-9. I am so happy and relieved. He is working for Zabars here on the East side. I read some of the information and in 6 months he can get health insurance and in a year a 401k. I hope he stays for a while.
