Couple points.

- your at an English language site, if you can't post a news story in english.. must not be very solid.

-It's quite common for parents not to want their child on the stand in front of the accuser.

- The only "deal" I am aware of is a "civil suite" which was settled out of court, has nothing at all to do with criminal charges..... her current state of mind is not nearly as relevant as the question:

Were the crimes committed? DID he flee the justice system?

If I cut my wife open with a knife, can she make the charges go-away by saying "she does not want me charged"?

Really, if you know of info that sheds a different light on the story .. share it, so far you came here crying B.S. but you brought nothing to back it up with.

Oh yeah, you're right, not in English = not very solid. It's an article from Le Monde, the most "solid" newspaper in France.

But as I said, that's just if you're curious.

I don't say he's innocent. I believe the main guilty person in this story is the mother, who as mentionned previously pimped her and litterally pushed her into his arms. Probably in hope of some little glory...

We keep hearing the mother is the Pimp but where is the evidence of this?

-Because she tried to help her daughter get in modeling?

This makes her an automatic pimp?

-Because she let her daughter "go with this famous person to shot some pics?

From reports, a friend of hers was supposed to accompany them but Polanski cleverly insisted she not come after they left the mother.

Has no one here ever left a child with a coach, music teacher, neighbor, is that anymore reckless than allowing your child to be alone in the company of a well known director?

From what I have read.... I hardly would call this mother more than careless perhaps... again, where does the evidence of "pimping her daughter" come from?

Why does it matter if a girl is a perfect student walking down the street and gets thrown into a car, forced to get drunk and do drugs and then raped... Is forced into prostitution by her mother and then is forced to get drunk and do drugs and then raped.... Is in a good family but sneeks off to a party and is forced to get drunk and do drugs and then is raped... The circumstances don't matter in these cases, if a guy does something no matter how much his environment may or may not have influenced him, he is still breaking the law and should be punished.

Uhh, Polanski plead guilty to having sex with a minor which was against the law (he did not admit force, but this was a plea bargain). If you read her grand jury testimony it is shocking and pretty unambiguous that this was forced rape (and sodomy!) as most reasonable people understand it to be.

He then decided to skip town when the judge decided to throw out the plea bargain - which Polanski said he understood the judge was entitled to do. Then he skipped town and was never seen on our shores again. If the judge's behavior in this case was so "inappropriate" according to a bunch of people who have seen a documentary sympathetic to Polanski are alleging, than it would have been thrown out had he decided to pursue it in a court of law.

Unfortunately for Polanski and all his friends, the laws is determined in the courts and not in some documentary or the personal opinion of your peers.
