:o ie gone again FINESSE... :crying::crying::rofl::rofl:

jamerican!!!! how was it leaving yaad??? did u feel like u could live there???

It felt like it was just enough time....I never had those moments that we often have when there for a week or so and I say "wow, I will be leaving in x days" It was ok leaving because I knew that once getting home I had work to do! I have never wanted to live in Jamaica full time because I do like living in the US. I have always wanted to be able to live part time (3-4 months) there, and that feeling is still there.

Hi everyone.

I am very sad because my husband found out this morning that his mother passed away. He is on a plane right now on his way back to Jamaica. The saddest part about it is that he had a ticket to go down for a week on monday. He was just five days short of seeing his mother one last time.

She had been sick with headaches and dizzy spells, but nobody thought she was on her deathbed. She was only 51 years old. I still don't know what she died from.

So, my question is...what should I do? I want to go down and be there for him, but the money just isn't there. I don't have any experience with Jamaican funerals or customs.

So sorry for your loss and the situation it puts you both in. I don't know much either other than what is called 9 night.... the celebration of the persons life goes on for a few days. Family comes from all around prior to the day of the actual funeral but it is much like what you hear about in the south/New Orleans where there is music and gathering of friends and family...food, drinking...much like how you would expect Jamaicans to be. Not knowing his family structure I can almost guarantee he will not be alone....he will have the support of friends and family so if you just can't make it.....it should be ok. My hubby's grandmother died and he was taking pictures and sending them to me via email of all the family...having me talk to people who I have never met... You can be there for him without being there if there is no way....hang in there.

Good morning all.

Congrats to Newly and Heaven.

Bunz I'm the only one you didn't add as a friend on FB...hhhhmmm.

Hi everyone.

I am very sad because my husband found out this morning that his mother passed away. He is on a plane right now on his way back to Jamaica. The saddest part about it is that he had a ticket to go down for a week on monday. He was just five days short of seeing his mother one last time.

So, my question is...what should I do? I want to go down and be there for him, but the money just isn't there. I don't have any experience with Jamaican funerals or customs.

Hi Acrow...glad to see you again...but definitely not about your situation. My sincerest condolesences for your family's loss. Wow only 51...so sad.
