Hi everyone

I have been in VJ for quite a while following and reading very helpful info's and now I am on AOS stage.

I have moved to new place on NOA2 K-1 stage somehow I did not notify USCIS or NVC for my new address because I did not know for sure who I had to notify.

Now I am married my fiancee (now wife) and we started to gather all docs for AOS, and having some concern on address changed and marriage cert/license:

1. Who I have to notify now about my new address? USCIS in Vermont when I filed the K-1 visa before or NVC or the closest USCIS where we reside now?

2. Should I fill out the forms for AOS with my current address now or should it be on old address as on our K1 application, and send them the Change of Address form?

3. It is stated that we need to send out the AOS with our certified copy of Marriage Certificate. We received in mail an original Marriage License signed by the Judge of our civil wed. We also got a certified copy of it. But it does not say Marriage Certificate but Marriage LICENSE.

Is it the same?

because we went back to the county clerk and ask about marriage certfificate but she said they already sent it and it is our marriage certificate. I confused now...we have received a Marriage LICENSE signed and authorized but why not marriage Certficate instead?

Does anyone had similar experience? Any info and input are really appreciated.

Thank you guys!

hi, just call the uscis and notify them about your change of address and then when you send in AOS make sure it has your new address on it. if you havent got a certified copy of your marriage licence get one and send that. thats all i did, if they need to see the original (which i doubt) they can ask for it at the interview. good luck on your journey!

thanks for your reply tommys_girl ! ok we will be having the new address on all AOS forms now.

yes we have received original and certified copy of our marriage license-but not marriage certificate.

Are marriage certificate and marriage license two different things?

we told the county clerk: we need our marriage certificate, but when she saw the marriage license we brought at that time she said : "that is your marriage certificate. there will be no other document. you can send that to the immigration for your AOS".

is that true? because I never seen anyone mentioned about marriage license...but marriage CERTIFICATE instead.

For us the license and certificate were the same thing. The license involved filling out the top part and after the ceremony the official and the witnesses filled the bottom and it was filed with the clerk. Probably yours works the same way also, all on one form type thing.

USCIS will know what it is so long as it has the officials information, date of marriage, etc.

thanks belinda! yeah i remember after we registered for our civil wed, we have given the marriage license and we was told to bring it in when we come back for the actual civil wedding. and when we went to the courthouse for the civil wed we handed the license in and the clerk told they will then send the original to us by mail and that is what we have received in the mail.original marriage license with official judge and clerk signatures with the date of marriage and when it is recorded. so i guess they are the same thing.

appreciate your reply! cheerz..
