I can see my Trillium info under my CRA online account as well. Is there somewhere there you can take care of it?

I just called CRA and they told me that changing my address online will NOT trigger the payments to stop. I actually have to write

the tax center a letter explaining the permanent move to the US and specifically ask them to stop the payments.

The information I need to provide in the letter is:

- My Full Name

- My Social Ins. Number

- Who is moving with me (my children)

- Which benefits I wish to stop (no longer entitled to).. in my case it is CCTB, GST and Trillium Benefit.

Send it to the Tax Centre closest to me (St. John's Nfld)

If they can't stop the payments in time, I have to pay it back, and I can pay it back online.

I hope this info helps others..

(I think we really kill more trees than necessary with all this paperwork) :huh:

They certainly make it hard for us to tell them to stop giving us money. I guess I better get on this since I already did my POE on March 14th. We are still back and forth from Ontario though so technically we haven't moved yet. This is where it is a little confusing to me. I don't want the money. I just don't know how to explain my residency right now.

I called the child tax benefits 1800 number and told them I no longer want to receive benefits. The lady said I would get the benefit for April but gave me the address to pay it back. I also removed my direct deposit information online. I did receive a gst cheque and haven't cancelled those yet but wil tomorrow. Hopefully I can send it back to the same address. I plan on closing my BMO accounts because I opened the RBC accounts. That should also effectively make it so they cannot give me money. Lol
