My wife came to the US on a K1 fiance visa in June of this year. We mailed out her AOS application packet at the end of August, which included the I-131 Application for Travel.

1. We are planning to travel out of the country in November for about a month. Does anyone know if this will be a problem?

2. Do we have to wait for the I-131 to be approved in order to travel? If so how long does it normally take to be approved?

Thanks in advance for the help.

2. Do we have to wait for the I-131 to be approved in order to travel? If so how long does it normally take to be approved? It would be in your best interest to wait. Usually takes a couple of months to get the AP.

traveling wont be a problem , but the return to enter the US without a aproved I 131 or green card will be she can be refuessed to enter and you guys would have to start all over with a spousal visa ,

so best is to waite for the aproved I 131 wich can take anywhere from 1 to who knows how long after the bio apointment ( mine took roughly 2 month from when we first filled )

To add:

Your timeline isn't up to date so I can only assume there hasn't been a biometric appointment yet - this will likely be scheduled before your planned trip - the problem (besides the AP not approved yet) is - what happens if you do get the AP, take your trip as planned and an interview is scheduled while you're away? (Or an RFE needs to be responded to.) For these reasons, it isn't always advisable to plan trips before having the PR/Green Card in hand.
