We took the cat to the vet twice - last week for a swollen lip that was some sort of enzyme infection that some cats apparently get. He got the first round of antibiotic shots for that, and some antibiotic drops to give him by mouth every 12 hours.

He keeled over sometime on tuesday and has been lethargic ever since - watery eyes and wheezing/sneezing with dry nose.

Sounds just like every case of URI I have dealt with. It's pretty common. Also, they are noticably more subdued. Kitties who come to me sick will be cuddly and lay around and nap, but when they feel better they are different (much more playful) cats all together. We describe the sound they make as "snargly" It's only later in the infection stages that they get really snotty.

Took him to vet today and was told it was likely an upper respiratory infection (a cold/flu basically) and got another antibiotic shot and to continue with the antibiotics. Temperature is normal and he's not running a fever.

We were able to feed him some of the cat milk and pate cat food mixed with some warm water, so hopefully that will keep him going until tomorrow.

I have seen him use the toilet.

Means he had something in him, so I think it's a good sign.

Just like humans, medicines can make cats feel funny too. The fact that he was on meds and then you noticed him laying around isn't too surprising to me.

Its kinda scary seeing him just lying there wheezing.

He can get around by himself but he only seems to move about 6 feet from where he is and lays down again.

Also worried about our other cat, have no means of isolating her from him in the appt, so she'll probably get it too.

Grrrr.
