Question for a German friend here in the USA

She (German) is here on a student visa and fell in love with someone (USA) while here. Now her visa is coming to and end in a few weeks and they want to stay together. Could they get married here before the end of the visa and apply for the K3 here or does she have to go back to Germany to apply?

A visa (such as a K-3) is for entry to the US - can not get a visa to the US while in the US. (If you're already in the movie theater, you wouldn't go back out to buy a ticket to get in...)

They can get married and she can apply for AOS; as she came as a student with no intention to immigrate (ie she didn't know she'd meet someone and fall in love), she can legally stay.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
