Hello everyone!

simple question if you receive a RFE what would the uscis be asking for in general?

how does the uscis decided if more evidence is needed, like looking at some timelines, as an xample someone submitted dere I-129F in April and received and RFE in May. Do they just llok through them and tell that couple in advance if they need to submitte more evidence?

i think if you forget to attach something they'll give you an rfe. like instead of just denying you they give you a chance and send an rfe. could be for anything like more pictures or letters of intent possibly. and i think they review the packets in order they recieve it and if you need an rfe it gets put on hold.

The dates in some of those timelines are obviously screwed up. One member wrote that they got an RFE 10 months before their NOA1. Others have changed the format they use for entering the date, using one format for the NOA1 and another for the RFE. You have to take those numbers with a little skepticism. This is "user error", and not a problem with the timeline system.

Most RFE's are sent several months after NOA1, which probably means the petition was being adjudicated at the time, and the adjudicator determined more was needed. When an RFE is sent very soon after the petition was received it probably means that something obvious was missing from the package, like a required form. It's also possible that they didn't get an RFE, per se, but the entire package was returned to them. This would happen, for example, if they forgot to include the payment. The timeline system doesn't really give you a way to record when something like this happens, so a member might just enter it as an RFE.

For the most accurate information on why USCIS might send an RFE, and what they are often asking for, check out the pinned RFE thread at the top of this sub-forum.
