What? No fancy paper? I r disappointed. :(

My Husband's was on letterhead, a letter really.

Now if you had a long criminal record, maybe you get a bigger better version??

Hahaha. It came from Commissionaires - a copy of the application and then stapled to that - a yellow piece of paper saying that nothing was found.

Mine from the Kingston NS RCMP detachment looked liked a 3 yr old drew it up!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

It's so funny. Throughout the past 3 years I've seen many people post in the Canada Forum, me included I think, about the police report. They are different depending on who you get them from, and they look so, unprofessional? I just had a letter, done up on the computer, with the police letterhead. They sent me five copies. I was SURE at the time that this was not what I was supposed to have. Didn't look like a "report" to me!

I've done school reports that looked fancier than the sheet of paper they gave me. When she passed it along, I even asked "this is it?" and she just kind of blankly stared at me. I just looked to see that it mentioned somewhere that my name had been checked against the national repository (and, of course, for the fancy embossed stamp -- which is apparently to counteract the plainness of the paper by making it "professional"?).

I know it was only thirty bucks, but still... was expecting something a little more.

Mine was a 3-part form (or maybe it was 2-part). It was maybe 4x6 in size, and kind of official looking. Jill, if you read this.... did you get yours done at the Oakville detachment? Just wondering if you have the same form.

Yes! I got mine done at the Oakville Detachment right at Bronte and the QEW. I know there is another headquarters at Trafalgar and the QEW. Mine looked pretty official too, it looked like a real "certificate" and it was small in size, like a photo sized

Oh and there were copies under... like they tore off the original and underneath was a pink and yellow copy for me. Sort of like a receipt?

I laughed when I went to pick it up. RCMP Kingston, NS letterhead, with once sentence on it. No criminal record found. I can't believe I had to wait a couple days to pick it up! :jest:
