Hi!

Does anybody know how many certified copies of the marriage certificate i should order from the recorders office? I'm thinking we'll need one for the i-130 package, one for the i-485 package, and one for the interview? Is that correct? (AOS from J1 visa)

Thanks

I would see how much one copy cost. If it's not expensive, it would not harm to order three. However, you are not required to send the originals, so you can just get ONE certified copy, and make 2 photocopies of it for I-130 and I-485, and bring the original to the interview. Many people have done it, and didn't get an RFE. Here, in Arizona, a certified copy costs $26.50, so I just got one copy and made photocopies of it fot our petition.

2-year green card application:

07/29/2009- Mailed I-130, I-485, I-693, I-864, I-864A, G-325A, I-765 via USPS.

08/02/2009- Package delivered to Chicago.

08/06/2009- Checks cashed.

08/10/2009- Received NOA's for I-485, I-130, I-765 (issued August 6th).

08/19/2009- Recieved Biometrics Appointment notice (bio apt 9/12 at 9am).

08/21/2009- Recieved RFE for I-485 (issued August 17th).

08/22/2009- Responded to RFE.

09/01/2009- Case processing resumed (RFE recieved on 8/27/2009).

09/01/2009- Walk-in biometrics at 1:00pm, in and out in 15mins.

09/09/2009- Recieved e-mail: EAD card production ordered on 09/08/2009.

09/14/2009- Recieved another e-mail: EAD card production ordered (AGAIN!) on 09/11/2009.

09/16/2009- EAD recieved in the mail.

11/27/2009- Received green card in the mail!

Removal of Conditions:

09/09/2011- Sent the package via Priority mail, with delivery confirmation.

09/12/2011- Package delivered.

09/13/2011- Check cashed.

Send Copies with your I-130/I-485. You will need just one certified copy during your interview. In our case, the IO didn't even ask for the marriage certificate.

Here, in Arizona, a certified copy costs $26.50

Holy #######!! That's highway robbery.

Ours first copy was $8. We sent that one with our AOS package. When we got our interview letter we decided to get another one. At that time my husband realized that the wrong date was on the certificate! So they gave us several for free. ;)

I agree, see how much it costs you and go from there.

Certified copies in Nevada cost $15 (just gone up from $10) so i'll just get the one. I don't see a reason to come any more out of pocket than necessary. Thanks!
