My fiance and I are hoping to get our K1 Fiance Visa in Decmeber and we would have our wedding in California in February. I am wondering if we had our wedding aboard a cruise ship, would that present a problem? Would border patrol create an issue if the cruise stayed within US waters? Any feedback you can give would be much appreciated. Thank you!! :)

It will depend if the cruise ship leaves US waters and what port of calls it makes. If it stays in US waters and you don't have any sort of passport control or customs/immigration activities during the cruise then it should be fine. If the cruiseline says that guests require passports, then no, it would not be fine. If the cruise heads south towards Mexico or north towards Canada and leaves US waters at all then, no, it would be a risk.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Like Kathryn mentioned it just depends on whether or not you have to deal with the border patrol when you get off the ship. If it's simply cruising around the bay of the city you live in then most likely you won't have to deal with customs. If you are leaving the vicinity and stopping at a port of call, even just key west, fl, you'll most likely have to go through customs on your way back and that would pose issues for you.

what cruiseline/port of call is it?

Take a boat and stay on Catalina Island. It is a really nice place for a weekend

Catalina is amazing, but you could cruise Hawaii if you're looking for something more exotic. Those cruises stay in the US waters off Hawaii. :) (That's where we honeymooned!) Good luck!
