I am a U.S. citizen applying for a K3 for my husband who is in China. We are married now. My question is my passport is in my maiden name. I applied for the K3 in my married name and I put my other names used on the form. Do I need to change my passport name to my married name? My SSN is changed, all my banking info I have changed, even did my taxes in my married name. The only thing that hasn't changed is my passport. I have traveled after the name change.

I know when they issue a new passport it will be blank and you don't get the old one back. I have all my stamps in the old one of travelling.

Will it be a red flag if I just keep the old one? Or is it something that should be changed? Any advise helpful. Thanks.

I renewed mine in January,,, You don't even need to ask,,, they will cancel and sent the old passport back. But,,, since you may need information from the passport, Make a good photcopy or scan of the passport, Just in case,, it gets lost.

Good Luck,

you don't have to change your passport to your married name, I didn't do that and I am almost complete with my husband's case. I filed my husband's case with my married name and I didn't have any issues......
