na cops shouldn't have any risk at all.. how do u dare saying that

The taser has made it all too easy for cops to use it because they're too damn lazy to wrestle somebody to the ground.

"Come on, Earl. Let's zap this old hag so we make it over to the donut shop before daybreak."

did you ever consider it's more dangerous for them to do so nowadays? back just a few decades ago, getting poked by a needle wasn't a death sentence. now they have to be more careful for health reasons (theirs) and legal reasons (the citizen).

You mean, before the taser in situations like this, cops would just turn and run to the safety of their patrol car?

no, they beat the preps down w/ batons or unloaded on them....which do you like more?

Only the arseholes who would use excessive force. The real heroes would wrestle them to the ground. It's not that hard really...it's what they were trained to do.

yeah works real good with iv druggies

an only a *edited coz i like you steven* will rail against police for using the proper amount of force.(not clubbing or dumping a clip in a fucktard running at him w/ a gas can & a lighter)

from the article: Western Australia police said they were responding to a complaint at a house when Mitchell ran outside carrying a cigarette lighter and a large plastic bottle containing what they believe was fuel. When he refused to stop running toward them, one officer Tasered him, police said in a statement.

Fire extinguisher would have done the trick, but maybe they didn't have enough time to plan ahead?

It's on their bat belts, right next to that big bottle of N2O they like to sniff for giggles.

Police have to fight fires too. When they do, the extinguishers need to work.

Police in Lenexa, Ks. purchased 25 Cold Fire-brand extinguishers for $6,000 apiece after witnessing three fatal accidents last summer where victims died in flames. The extinguishers are the same type used to put out fires at the Indianapolis Speedway, according to the Kansas City Star.

Officials say the equipment not only snuffs fires faster but keeps the fires from reigniting and cools metal so rescuers can touch car parts without burning themselves as they rescue victims.

"We don't know for sure that, even if we had that fire extinguisher, it would have put it (the fire) out," Sgt. David Ogilvie said of the fatal incident last summer. "But maybe we could have put it out long enough to keep the fire away from the victim until fire trucks got there. … You always want to have the best equipment at the scene," he told the Star.

The cops shouldn't even have weapons at all; that would give them an unfair advantage...they should be restricted to shouting, "STOP!! Or I'll say 'STOP' again!!!" And in extreme circumstances where they must use physical (bodily only) force against a perp misunderstood fellow citizen, the cop must receive equal or greater physical harm than he gives the misunderstood fellow citizen...photos of both will be taken for comparison.

They should all have black belts in Jujitsu and Judo...seriously. And the ones who can no longer stop someone's heart from beating with the death touch would assigned a desk job.

Also the ones who can't dodge bullets or catch them in their teeth.
