If it's a male friend that invites, I expect him to foot the bill, naturally. If it's just a routine meeting with the regulars, then we go Dutch. By the way I don't go out for dinner with just females only.

What my friends call these types: dinner whores.

Life..... Nobody gets out alive.

If he's a male who invited me to have dinner, assuming he have something important to tell me that he wants me to be his gf. I will accept his invitation but I rather pay my own meal cause I don't want to misleading him that he have a chance for me. it's just a respect for being a friend, you know. :blink:

I'm not the type of a woman who just fell inlove with the guy because he give me flowers, or free dinner. :bonk::P

If you get a call from one of your friends to meet with them for dinner at a restaurant, are you going to expect them to pay for your meal?

If it is customary for Filipinos to pay for the friends if they invite them to a dinner or party, how do friends plan get-togethers where everyone pays for themselves?

The answer is it depends...If it's just a regular get together, we usually pay for our own. If there's an occasion like someone's birthday and it's the celebrator who invited us, then it's kinda expected that it's his treat. In cases in which there's an occasion and one of the friends of the celebrator is arranging the get together, usually it means that we'll have to share the expenses, excluding the celebrator.

About the planning? It's very casual. Just call them up or send them an SMS and say let's get together or something like that and it's already understood that each will be expected to pay for his own meal. Unless the person who is inviting say "let's get together, my treat".

well, a birthday invitation means you just attend, bring a gift and not worry about the bill

but when i go to those little reunions with friends, then we usually go dutch but if i invite them after not having seen them for a long time then i pay for it;

also, if im out with a friend who i know isnt financially well off atm then i just tell her that it'll be my treat, coz as friends we do that most of the time; it's anticipating each other's situation plus what matters is that you get to spend tme together, & money can't buy that so buying a meal isn't that big of a deal

If I invite someone out to dinner I plan to cover the check. If someone invites me out to dinner I do not automatically assume they will pay, but give them the opportunity and if they want to go Dutch no problem. Remember time spent sharing a meal is a nice thing not necessarily the food and definitely not about money...

:pop: agreed!
