Question about Form DS-157

I am filling out the forms for packet 3 today, which I intend to mail tomorrow. I just got to Form DS-157, question 17, where I'm supposed to list all educational institutions except elementary schools.

In the dates column, they ask for an mm-dd-yyyy format. I have attended two different highschools (Germany and US), and a total of six different universities (that's relatively normal in Germany if you do a number of study abroad programs, move once within Germany, and study in Berlin where you can split your course of study between different local schools, and stay in school all the way to the PhD). I can sort of reconstruct the MONTHS, but I frankly have no idea about the exact DAYS I started or finished. Will this be a problem? Shall I guess, or just give the months only?

Many thanks in advance!

Thank you for your response. That makes me feel better. :)

Month and year is fine. We just did a K-2 (to follow) June 25 and that is all I listed in our son's DS-157. No questions asked.

moving thread to:

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion

You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.

YMMV

We had the same exact problem. We simply used MM/YYYY and there were no questions asked. Just use a separate piece of paper clearly labeled at the top and sign/date at the bottom. You will have no worries............

likewise, i don't remember the exact dates but it helped that we have fixed months for graduation/s and when school starts so ...i just added any date on the oldest one and it was ok. i can understand with all those universities u have attended, thats pretty much a headache to remember  ...like the rest said, mm-yyyy is ok too.

best of luck :star:

Thanks for all your responses. I mailed off the packet today. 27 pages! I needed an extra sheet for any answer that asked about history of education, employment, residences, travels... I think I'm *really* ready to settle down!
