Ok, so i know i need to get that medical examination done, and i dont really know how to go about it?

- do i just call the civil surgeons office and ask for an exam? or do i tell them that i need it for AOS?

- also i dont have a record of my vaccinations, will this be a problem? i was told that i should just get vaccinations done outside of the civil surgeons (like a low cost clinic) but who can tell me which vaccinations are needed or do i have to talk to the civil surgeon about that?

thanks!

We just called a civil surgeon on the USCIS list and it was very smooth.

They were a walk-in office (no appointments taken), it was $280 (we did not have my husbands vaccination records either) and that cost covered everything.

We went in on a Friday at 2pm, we were there less than 30 minutes. They gave him a vaccination in both arms, took blood for the HIV test, and gave him a TB test. We went back in two days for the results of the TB test to be read (which were negative) and they gave us the sealed envelope and a copy for our records, and we mailed it off to USCIS. (We were RFE'd for the medical due to some confusion when I mailed in the I-130/I-485/I-765) but it was quick smooth, and painless. Just be sure its a CS from the USCIS website and not just a regular doctor or they will not recognize the results.

Good luck!

do you know who your family doctor was when you were a child? if so, you can contact them and ask to fax/email a record of your vaccinations. print this off and take it with you to the exam.

if you go to USCIS's website, they have a civil surgeon locator (although it's incredibly out of date): find one in your area, call and ask them if they perform immigration exams (it's best to go to a CS that is familiar with the process and paperwork so you don't have to worry that it's not being done right). now, if you can get a record of your childhood vaccines you'll probably find that you've already had most of the required ones - you'll probably only need a tetanus and maybe a MMR shot. if you can't get a record, you'll need to get all the childhood vaccines redone -you can get these done at much cheaper clinics than the civil surgeon. or you can get tested for immunity (not really sure which is cheaper/easy) to prove you've had them.

make sure you shop around for a civil surgeon - the prices vary greatly. make sure they explain ALL the costs to you - not just the exam cost but also the blood tests and any vaccinations. my recommendation is to look for one out in the suburbs. in my case, and exam, bloodwork, tetanus and MMR shot, and a pregnancy test all cost just a little over $300.

Mine was a similar experience to Kittykisses73. Only I paid $160/-. Depends on which state and which CS you end up with. The highest one CS was charging for the I-693 medical was $360/- I had the HIV/TB Test/3 vaccines and the general check-up in $160/-. Took me 30 minutes to get it all done. The TB test came in -ve the next day and I was handed the I-693 sealed envelope in 3 days. Good Luck.

Hello, i went to my medical examination 2 weeks ago and i was so nervous about the entire process... call the civil surgeons around your area... find the one that has the best price make sure you ask if the tb test and hiv test is included in the price... some offices told me it was 250 and never told me those test weren't included... the one i went to charged me 200 something and it included the hiv test and tb... also.. ask about the papiloma virus vaccine if you are under 26 you will need to have that vaccine at least the first two . you can get that done at a free clinic or income based clinic in case you don't have health insurance...

I got mine for free at the health department. when you call the civil surgeon's office ask them what vaccines are required, tell them your age ... since you don't have any vaccine records i recommend for you to go somewhere else to get the vaccines you need...
