2 weeks till interview, but no "yellow letter"

My wife's interview is two weeks from today, but we have yet to receive the yellow case file review letter. Any ideas why we might not have received one? Should we be concerned?

Hi Everyone,

Ok...stupid question: "What exactly is a 'yellow letter'?"

What does it look like? Is it yellow (lol..unlike a green card that is not green)? What does it contain? At what stage of the naturalization process does on receive such? Is it good to receive such? What if one doesn't receive such in time?

Good to know beforehand before I file soon...Still learning along the way.....

The "yellow letter" is a case file review notice that is generated sometime between completion of biometrics and the interview. It informs tha applicant that their file has been reviewed and lists specific documents that they should bring with them to their interview.

Thanks for your reply and thanks for mentioning what the yellow letter is all about.

On that note, yes, it seems important that you should receive such before you go for your interview, otherwise you wouldn't know what to bring there.

So yes, I hope you get this soon in time before your interview!

If not, do inquire with the USCIS about getting such!

Is everyone's yellow letter the same (a generic letter), or is it specific to one's case? If it's a generic letter, the same for everyone, maybe you can find a copy of it online beforehand, in case you don't get it in time, so then at least you know what you have to bring for the interview instead of being left clueless as to what to bring there?

Can anyone else on VJ share the contents of their yellow letter to help out?

On that note, maybe not getting a yellow letter is a good thing, since the interview letter tells you what to bring anyways. Maybe the yellow letter is like an RFE letter (which is not good)? And if you don't get a yellow letter, then you don't have to worry about bringing anything extra, other than what is generally stated on the interview letter for everyone.

Well, as long as you get some letter before the interview, that's all that matters...right? Just go by whatever they tell you to bring on the letter(s), and you should be ok there...

I never got a yellow letter, but that didn't matter. I read through this forum and looked through all my files. I brought along ANY document that I thought might be relevant for the interview. In the end I had a big briefcase full with documents etc. I figured that I'd rather take too much than too little. Who needs any unnecessary delays? In the end, the IO only wanted to see my driver's license, passport and greencard. But I bet, if I wouldn't have had all those documents with me, he would have asked for them.

I've heard of IOs asking for birth certificates which usually are not on the document checklist. I've heard of IOs who wanted to talk to the American spouse, even though the interview letter usually never states that the should come along. And so forth. So I wouldn't rely on that yellow letter.

I think I'm mainly worried about being asked for stuff that we previously submitted for earlier applications that isn't included on the interview checklist. My wife's birth certificate is a good example.

I guess I thought getting a "yellow letter" would be a good thing because it means someone actually located the file and looked at it. I've heard too many stories of missing or incomplete A files. As long as my wife's case file actually makes it to the District Office for the interview, then I'll be happy.

I received a "case status review" yellow letter after I got my interview letter #2. It says to bring the "case status review" letter, my state issued government ID, and it also says I mentioned getting arrested in my N400 so I should bring my arrest documents. The thing is, I've never been arrested so I guess it's just talking about the traffic ticket I mentioned. I'm just going to ignore that part since I have no proof of anything about the ticket, it's a decade old.

I got a yellow letter, telling me to bring a state id to my interview, but i havent gotten my interview appointment. Which comes first? Should i worry about my interview notice being lost in the mail?
