Canada Day in DC?

Anybody having a party or doing anything for Canada day in the Washington, DC area? I tried to RSVP for the July 1st Celebration with the Canadian Embassy, but they're full! :(

I departed DC for RI,lol U can drive to RI, inlaws have a huge backyard on the water, we can party here,lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Hmm...maybe I should! Do you REALLY think they'd have a "list" of people who RSVP'ed? This isn't a wedding :)

They had a list last year but it wasn't strict because my husband and I brought his friend in and he didn't wasn't on the list. I don't know if it's going to be strict this year.

Just play dumb, show up and state you didnt know you had to RSVP for it!

Depends what field you're looking for - IT has a zillion, although some require citizen and clearance. I work in IT as QA...there were a few jobs I couldn't apply for, but plenty that I could - mind you that was a year ago

Yeah, they have a list and are probably going to be more strict than last year. But if anyone in the DC area wants to go, PM me - my husband does security for the Embassy and said he will make sure the VJ peeps get in. :whistle:

I have also heard that there probably won't be any poutine this year. :crying:
