I was (all at the same time):

- part of the in crowd.

- with the group that kept chatting while the class was going on.

- tomboyish in school but feminine in the clubs on the weekend.

- D&D nerd on the weekends with an awesome non nerd group. Played a Half-Elf Ranger on my longest campaign. Also played a badazz smuggler in Star Wars D20 system for a long time.

- dated the popular funny kid (not the hot one) whose father was our math teacher for several years (he was one grade above but his class was always the popular class).

- Had a popular brother.

- Played Handball.

- Was the one everyone cheated from in the English tests.

I even once got a 9.5 average in English and convinced the teacher to let me take the make up test for those below passing grade with the deal that if I got 100% on it she'd make my average the full perfect 10, just so I could be present and give out the answers to the failing kids. We stole a test right before exams started and I did it, then put the blank one handed by the teacher on top and and did it again, while the first test was passed around the class. Everyone got passing grades. The next year the teacher made us take tests in the auditorium and I was seated alone at the stage, far from the rest of the kids.

- I wasn't as good in the other subjects although I did get really high marks in Literature and Portuguese, and struggled horribly with Math.

Elementary and middle school I was in an "excel" program. When I went to normal high school it moved too slow for me so I was homeschooled and did my high school through Indiana University's high school program. Was fun. I went to IU once a month to take all my tests. I just played tennis, hung out with my tennis friends, played more tennis, and studied. I taught myself everything except for algebra. I finished early and went to college early. My sister is friends with a lot of the people I grew up with and the main thing they say when they find out she's my sister is "omg amber is so funny!" So I guess I was funny.

Yea, but I could run the fastest and catch the prettiest sheep before anyone else could.

I bet you say that to ALL the sheep!

(intoned as in the lyric from Meatloaf/Paradise by the Dashboard Light)

Laura, you are like the Princess Leia to all nerds. I would have had such a big crush on you back then.

My bad.... got my Meatloaf tracks mixed up.

What a fvcking great album... I don't know what's more classic, the tunes or the cover art.

 I was the only girl in the D&D group indeed, but then again, my boyfriend (the funny popular kid) was the GM and my brother was our Cleric. :P

I did love dancing and techno and beer and could be girly if the situation asked for it, but overall, only girl with two older brothers, I was much like them and all my friends were guys, with one or two best girl friends only. One of them was the pretty tall blond one though, I was mere average.

High school was a pointless joke. I'm still not sure why 11th and 12th grade are not eliminated altogether?

...I will leave the option open for any of my future kids (if they want) to drop out of high school as soon as they are old enough for a GED (I think 16 is the earliest age for a GED). Then while their friends are still in high school going through pointless 11th grade my son/daughter will be in their freshmen year at a community college which actually counts in life. Then as their friends are completing pointless 12th grade my son/daughter will be in their second year of community college, getting ready to transfer to a university with 2 years worth of credits. With the combination of summer school they will receive their associates degree in a year and a half, and graduate a semester early, in December versus May.

Then after graduating in December with their associates degree (while they're high school friends are only half way through senior year) my son/daughter will either:

A: Immediately enter junior year at the university of their choosing in January, followed by summer school, making them a university level senior in the fall (at 18) while they're high school friends are just getting ready to become freshmen (lol)

B: After associates degree is completed in December, they could take January through all of summer off and do internships or full-time jobs and enter junior year in college the following fall at 18 while their high school peers start freshmen year.

It definitely won't work out like that but I hope it does ;)

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

I never finished high school. Eric and I became best friends freshman year of high school when we dated two mid-20's female porn stars who knew each other. They ended up getting Eric and I jobs in porn the summer after freshman year, so we both dropped out of high school. So I spent my teen years doing inter-racial (hetero) porn and lots of cocaine.

I ended up getting my GED, going to college, and becoming an engineer though, so all's well that ends well.

High School in Brazil is VERY different from the US schools. We don't pick our subjects, we take them all, and there's no such things as drama class, pottery class, auto shop, home economics, Foods, Criminology, etc etc etc etc. We take Portuguese, History (ours and world), Geography (ours and world and geopolitics), Literature, Chemistry (organic and inorganic), Biology (all of it), Math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry), Physics, English (some schools have French or Spanish as foreign language choice, the common is English), P.E.. And then some schools have a year of Computers and a year of Arts as less serious classes.

High School lasts 3 years in which we cover everything in those subjects to prepare us for the University Entrance Exams, as our grades in school are usually irrelevant for University choices, you take a separate Entrance Exam for each University you plan to apply to, and they're graded differently depending on what course you chose.

Also, we leave High School straight to University, meaning we don't take Biology for 4 years in a college and then go into Med School, we go straight into Med School. We go straight into Law, etc. We don't have general classes that we can take until we choose a major or whatever, you apply to Med School you take the exam and if you pass you're then studying to be a doctor, period.

So the doctors and lawyers don't know what they are doing?
