my wife didn't get the new appointment letter as of today. probably she will get one tomorrow. anyways it seems like 1-2 week delay with biometrics, so we are considering walking-in next Monday and see if they can process her earlier.

Did you ever get a new NOA with a new appointment for your wife's bio? As of yesterday 7/1, my stepson hasn't received anymore NOAs.

Again, this shows the incompetence of the USCIS system. I am a web developer (a.k.a. software developer) for a big company. I write software for my company and we have our software tested and installed four times a year, or 4 different releases of our in-house software. Could you imagine having to shut down operations just because we are upgrading our software? If we did this, we would be out of business in a flash since all our customers will be so p...sss...ed at us for shutting down 4 times a year or 4 weeks a year as it is the intention of USCIS. I am glad I work for a private sector where things are run slightly more smoothly and with our clients in mind.

By the way, the cancellations went from 7/6, 7/7, 7/8, 7/9, and 7/10 a full week, and I am very suspicious about the fact that this week goes right after Saturday 7/4, a holiday, which does not happen to fall on a work day. I guess they wanted to take an extended holiday due to the fact that they didn't have one this year falling on a week day or business day.

Ciao!

i guess its the priviledge of public institutions to do whatever THEY want with petitioners. I work as IT Admin for private company, and darn ... if I said to my boss that servers will be shutdown for a week due to maintenance ... well, I would be looking for a new job in a glance LOL ;)

I still too think they just wanted to have a week off and then ASC IT was simply pressed into software update thing because of that (common order of things on such occasions) ...

anyways, my wife still didn't get reschedule notice as of today as she haven't walk-in yet either (afraid of consequences of being fingerprinted out of schedule thing and *possible* mix up in case processing).

I could not imagine to shut down operations for a whole week in a company the size of mine where it operates in 44 states. Lots of people will get really upset and it may lose lots of business and millions of dollars.

Ciao.

Hmm, I think at this stage in the game, it will be too late for you to do a walk-in tomorrow, which is too close to the 4th of July. As another poster above explained to me, I don't think there will be anything to be concerned about for doing this out of order.

Let me just add that if you took your original scheduled NOA without taking the cancellation to a walk-in, they will stamp your NOA as a receipt to prove you have done your biometrics. If I were you, I'd show up for the biomertrics tomorrow or late today if at all possible.

Ciao!

here's what uscis have to say regarding this cancellation, you can read the alert in uscis.gov.

"Application Support Center Appointment Rescheduling - July 6 - 10, 2009

System errors caused a number of Application Support Centers to be overscheduled during the week of July 6-10, 2009. As a result, some applicants may receive cancellation notices for appointments originally scheduled during this timeframe.

If you do not receive a cancellation notice, please appear at your ASC appointment as scheduled. If you do receive a cancellation notice, you will soon receive an ASC appointment notice for a new date and time, typically for an appointment within the next two to four weeks."

good news from New Jersey. My wife did the walk-in today (07/02/2009) in the afternoon and was accepted by ACS in Elisabeth, NJ (by Newark) :D receptionist had to make a phone call to see if she can be admitted (and was), no problems.

PattyS_Husband, as of today she still hasn't gotten any new NOA with biometrics reschedule date ... and of course today at ASC she showed only original appt notice (not the cancelled one).

so guys this Friday is last chance to do a walk-in (if your ASC is friendly enough to accept it), after that you have to wait for new appointments taking place 2-4 weeks later.

This is odd indeed - the 8th is a Wednesday - can't imagine something going on all across the country - maybe they're planning some sort of system update.

As recommended above - I would call - and/or go to the ASC maybe Mon/Tue (since most ASC's accept walk-ins). Obviously they aren't canceling the need for biometrics so may as well try and get it out of the way.

Be interested in hearing reports from those who have called the 800#.

i just hope it's their system's fault, and update, human error or so as online case statuses are not changed for pending cases. it's just that all biometrics appointments were cancelled somehow across the US...

what's worse most of people received that cancellation letters on Saturday so no one can actually call #800 as they work Mon-Fri 9-6 EST (i think) ...

LOL, chapter 22

heres the answer to all your question.... hope it helps!!!

So I guess we weren't the only once who did this, we got our 7/10 appointment cancelled and then they rescheduled for 7/14. I had already changed my work schedule to make the appointment for 7/10 so we walked in today. There was no line, no wait and I just showed them the original appointment notice (for 7/10) and they did the fotos and fingerprints, we were in and out in 10 minutes.

There shouldn't be any problems when we don't show up on 7/14 right?

I´m already against the next war.

nope, once done it's yours. you should see immediate update in case status online (several touches same and next day). they don't really care WHEN you do the fingerprints unless you do not show up for any appointments at all. you did it once, that's all you need.

Now I'm a bit nervous!!

I filed AOS and received by NOA on June 12th (dated received June 10th). I walked-in on June 23rd for my biometrics ignoring the cancellation letter and new appointment date. Fingerprints and photo were taken fine. I've checked my case status and nothing is updated for either my advanced parole, EAD or AOS from June. Is this normal? Does everyone get touches after fingerprints?

I had my original appointment cancelled for July 9th and rescheduled for July 24th. I went on the original date and was seen. I just received the same cancellation notice for July 8'th for the Elizabeth NJ location. I am wondering if this has ever happened before and why they send something without ANY explanation/

The same thing happened to my husband for the Elizabeth location, then two days later he got a letter and rescheduled for July 14th. However, we just moved from NJ to CA and we filed the AR11, got confirmation of the address change from USCIS, and yet they still sent a letter on June 26th scheduling his biometrics in Elizabeth. USCIS is really on top of stuff, huh? Now we're told it could take 30 days to reschedule him. Yet another delay in this slow process....
