Hello everybody!

I notice that in several forms, they ask for a security number...well i am really confused cause i used to have one when i was working here as an au pair in 2007/08 but i have no idea if it is still effective...?

if you have any ideas, thank you for sharing!!

If you mean your SSN (social security number)

It only non-effective when you die. (even then it is never re-issued)

You have it for life -!

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

but there is no restrictions in the use since i was supposed to be working in the usa for only a year with a J visa?

Now the J visa is expired and i'm on vwp.

so actually my questions would be: should i write it down my forms ?

Your SSN is yours. Use it. :)

doesn't matter... SSN does not expire even if your immigration or work authorization status does... if you have it put it on the forms... NBD

YMMV

You STILL have one. They never die and never change.

Doesn't matter. The SSN is NOT an authorization to work, no matter what the card says. You still need to demonstrate legal ability to work for each job, even citizens do! The card itself is a particularly worthless piece of paper. The NUMBER is what is important. I memorized my SSN in the mid-60's, lost my card in 1973, and haven't found a need for it since. Never replaced it.
