...Just thought I'd share my very recent travel experience...

My 2-year conditional green card expires on 11 June 2009.

My husband and I had made plans for a 2-week vacation to Europe that lasted from 23 May to 7 June. I'd be getting back in the country a good 4 days before the expiration of my conditional 2-year green card.

In March, I had applied to lift conditions, and received my approval letter on 16 May, 1 week before we were scheduled to leave.

Just in case, I made photocopies of my approval letter, as well as the initial NOA from DHS indicating that my conditional resident status was automatically extended for 1 year. I took my Philippine passport and 2-year Permanent Resident Card. I did not schedule and INFOPASS to get an I-551 stamp on my passport.

Abroad, I was asked for my Permanent Resident Card in addition to my passport + visa by the airlines (Delta + AirFrance) whenever we checked for our various flights. Going through customs in France was fast and easy.

Yesterday, as I was going through US customs when we got home to San Francisco, I had an utterly pleasant experience with the customs officer, who didn't even ask for additional paperwork for my soon-to-expire conditional Permanent Resident card. We sailed through customs fast and easy.
