Aw Vicky, I love your picture with your sweetie! He looks like a keeper!!

And ya know what (I think I can say this to you and you'll find the humor in it), those men from the UK aren't usually looking for a green card or a free ride - they move here for LOVE!!

You look happy and I'm tickled for ya!

Aww I believe it!!! To think someone would leave England for South Texas just to be near me really tells says to me that he's sincere :luv: I feel the same way!

I swear, as soon as Anton set foot on American soil he went from  to :ranting: and even a little :bonk: at the end there! Makes me sad to think all those poems and letters he wrote for me were all really meant for immigration and not for me, but hey look at where I am now :D He's broke and alone in Chicago and I am home with family, in love with a wonderfull man and working at a really great job (after being layed off and unemployed for 6 months)!!!:dance::dance:

Hey Vicky,

Welcome back, since it's 'cause of having found a great new guy! I'm just recently returned too 'cause we're coming up on Removing Conditions, and I'd wondered where you'd gone (among others).

The UK marriage visa is super-easy, G. has a friend who got one and she made an appointment at the US embassy about two weeks out, then was on a plane back to the UK two days after her interview (you have to enter on the visa from your home country, you can't do the equivalent of adjusting status while in the UK, so she took a week to be a tourist in NYC and see her family). It's the same basic criteria--are you really married, do you have something to live on and a place to stay--but they're pretty easy about it. It's faster and easier to get a UK marriage visa than a fiancé(e) one, or at least that's the rumor. Anyway, G. has a lot of friends who are American/Brit couples and all of them are shocked by how much harder it was for him to come here than for the American halves of those couples to go to the UK.

yeah, from what I am finding in my research that seems to be the case!!! One last thing I am concerned about then is the job market there. From what I have read, jobs must first be offered to UK citizens, then EU citizens then if they still haven't found someone qualified (or willing) then it can be offered to foreigners. That's got me a bit worried since I don't even have a degree.

well we will see what the future holds, I still need to get a divorce!!!

Hi, Vicky!

Glad to see you back, but sorry about the circumstances. (F) All seems to have worked out very well for you though.

In my humble opinion, blokes are a very good choice :D but I could be biased. Great pic of the two of you, and hope things continue to go well.

Other things to consider beside the job market are the housing costs (even the availability!) and prices for various things. David was amazed at the disparity between here and England, and he is very glad he came to the US (but not just for the less expensive aspect, of course :P ).

Best of luck to you! :luv: Keep us posted, I'll be looking forward to reading more of your new journey, whether it be visa-related or not. ;)

Vicki, if you come over to UK on a visitors visa, thats for 6 months....you wont be able to work on a visitors or a fiancee visa though.

If you really want to come to UK, your boyfriend can come over to US on a visitors visa and you can get married - then you can apply for a spousal visa to come over here - approx $500).

A spousal visa will let you work right away, you will not be tied down to staying in UK (you can travel wherever and whenever you want to), you will be entitled to free medical (NHS), and you will not need a medical or police record.

Once you have lived in UK for 2 years, you will have an interiview with the Home Office where they will ascertain that you live as a couple and you can support yourselves etc etc. - cost of £500. You will then get PERMANENT residency and will not have to have anymore interviews of filing of paperwork etc etc.

If after a year of getting your permanent residency, you can, if you wish, apply for citizenship, giving you joint citizenship!

When you go for your interview at the UK Embassy (in USA), you will be asked to prove that you can support yourselves and that you have somewhere to live. Apart from all the normal paperwork, as in birth certificates, passports, x photo's, thats about it really. We went to New York Embassy to get our spousal visa and we were at the 'counter' for all of 10 mins!! We were then told to go and have some lunch and come back to pick it up on 2 hours time.....it really was that easy!!!!!

We will be having our interview with the Home Office sometime next June and we can't wait because we know that is going to be end of all paperwork!! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

Hope that helps a bit.

Pauline :)

Oh Pauline that helped me out so much!!! (L)

Everywhere I looked wasn't giving the whole story. no time frames, no fees, no locations, no requirements etc. Wow, so I would just have to do the permanent residency and if I want I could later become a citizen. How awesome is that!!! Why isn't our immigration that easy? Geez!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!! :star:

My first wife came to the USA on a K-1 in 1991, we got divorced in 1995. She remarried and stayed in the USA. My second wife came to the USA on a CR1 in 2005.

The only thing that was different with the second visa petition is I had to mention that I was married before, submit divorce paperwork, and show the dates and disposition of the previous visa. But it never really came up--though the consular at the interview did say something about it. She said: "you were married before, and your ex-wife came to the USA on a K-1. hmmm, and you were divorced in 1995, hmmm, okay."

So it will came up, just document it and have that divorce decree certified copy, get several copies you will need them.

PS: yeah I remember you, and what was that film the version of Romanian Porno that you found, some PG-13 movie, I forgot what it was.

Romanian porno, that sounds so freaking familiar but I can't put my finger on it  I remember a movie called Occident that Jaci sent me but I haven't seen it in so long that I don't remember there being a porno part lol. I guess it would be any movie you would find DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA!!!! said  (da=yes in Romanian) lol.

we were married in 2004 and will be divorcing in late 2006 or early 2007, I really don't want to give him a chance to pay someone off to marry him to beable to stay because he has told me he wanted to do that. When I informed ICE, they told me there was 'nothing we could do because he is here legaly but if he is here even one day past his visa without AOS, he's gone.' Geez, I had immagined they would be beating down his door for saying something like that  his visa runs out 30 January 2007.
