How long does the final review at NVC really take?

It's my first time to call the NVC, thanks to xylide's assistance.

Our checklist response was received by the NVC on May 28, 2009 and the operator told me to wait 6-8 weeks for the review and I will be notified. Does it really take them 6-8 weeks for the final review? Or, is it possible to have it done sooner than expected? How about yours? Did you have to wait for 6 weeks before you are notified that your case has been completed? Thanks!

USCIS Took 5 months for me (too long)

I-130 Sent : 2008-09-02

I-130 NOA1 : 2008-09-08

I-129F Sent :

I-129F NOA1 : 2008-09-23

I-129F RFE(s) : 2009-02-05

RFE Reply(s) : 2009-02-06

I-129F NOA2 : 2009-02-10

G325A sent to USCIS- 2009- 02-05

G325A received by USCIS- 2009- 02-06

I-130 Approval : 2009-02-10

I130 and I129 F APPROVED AT THE SAME TIME

NVC Took almost 4 months

02/23/2009- NVC Received and case number assigned (Oh! God is great!)

02/26/09- Received DS-3032 / I-864 Bill

03/03/09- Emailed DS3032 (using Jame's shortcut)

03/06/09- Mailed DS3032 via DHL

03/11/09- DHL arrived at NVC- 2009-03-09, DS-3032 E-Mail accepted

03/15/09-Paid I-864 Bill, Receive I-864 Package

03/16/09 -IV Bill generated

03/16/09- Received IV Bill

03/17/2009-Paid IV Bill

05/10/09- Returned Completed I-864

5/18/09- RFE received for DS230/ Sent response through DHL from PI

05/20-05/21/09- Early medical- passed

5/22/09- RFE received for AOS package (wooo..grr))

5/27/09- AOS response overnight to NVC

5/28/09- NVC received checklist (Ds230) as per AVR/ under REVIEW

6/02/09- I-1864 RFE was entered into the system- Review begins

6/05/09- NVC website log-in failed

06/08/09- case completed (per operator/US time) 6/9/09- PH time ..yeah! :-)

06/09/09- interview date assigned (through email)

07/28/09- Cr1 interview date (APPROVED)

07/30/09-Visa Received

08/07/09- US Entry : POE: LAX

08/08/09- Arrival to destination

08/20/09- Permanent card received

10/13/09- SSN received

Not per my personal experience. Just like they say for postal services, within 7-10 business days, where as its usually 2-3 or 4 if a sunday falls between, just like that your review should be done within 2 weeks maximum!

I feel this is like one of those situations where you keep looking at the clock and it seems like every minute is an hour long. And like morning when you don't even have a second to spare and look at the time, the time flies like light!

So dont' stress over it. its gonna happen before you know it!

It looks like there are a couple of us here who are in the same boat! I got same message and we have similar dates. I'm calling tomorrow, otherwise one week left so we can hopefully get a July date!

glad I'm not alone. We have been waiting and we got a false RFE this morning and it ruined my husband's day so much. he is currently on base and he doesn't know what is really going on..so he reacted too much and I also felt bad about it. Hope we get our cases completed soon. yeah. 1 week left.

I didn't even wait for the checklist to be emailed I called and asked exactly what they needed and I sent it express mail and it still took 2-3 weeks after that for me in mid april.

08-13-2014 - N-400 mailed priority Phoenix lockbox
08-1x-2014 - N-400 package accepted

08-20-2014 - Check cashed

09-xx-2014 - NOA bio-metrics appointment

09-18-2014 - Bio-metrics appointment Columbus office

09-22-2014 - NOA letter scheduled interview 10-30-2014

10-30-2014 - Naturalization interview and test Columbus Ohio office.

Application changed to five year as mark reached while waiting for interview

Passed civic test and interview recommends approval !!!

10-30-2014 - NOA hand letter stating recommendation for approval and wait for letter of approval and oath
11-13-2014 - Case Status updated "We scheduled your oath ceremony"

11-14-2014 - NOA letter final interview and oath Tuesday 11-25-2014

11-25-2014 - Final red tape and oath ceremony Columbus, Ohio Officially a US Citizen!!!

- Applied US Passport at local post office

08-2016 - Received 10 year Q2 visa to visit China as a US citizen
