Translation of birth certificate

I am planing on aksing my parents for permanent residence and I am not sure about the process. What is my first step? Also,I live in New York and would like to know if there are specific places were i should bring my documents to get translated and certified? does anyone know?

Translations should be done by someone not related to you by blood, marriage or adoption, but it does not have to be someone you pay. It can be a friend. The translation should include the statement, 'I certify that I am fluent in both (foreign language) and English and the attached is a true and complete translation of the original." It should be signed and dated by the translator. It does not need to be notarized. The translation must be complete and cannot be a "summary".

If you don't have a friend to help you out, just take it to a bilingual notary. They will ususally do it for you.

Hola, my parents petitioned for me, are they LPR or USCitizens?, cause if they are LPR is takes too long. Anyways is only one of them who does the petiton, a mi me pidio mi papa. We used Abogado Richard LaSalle su oficina esta creo en la Roosevelt, but if you can do it yourself you can save a lot of money just read all the info in the USCIS website.

Any notario te puede ayudar con la traduccion cobran como mucho 20 dolares por pagina y estan en la famosa calle Roosevelt.

What I don't know is if you can stay here during the process i think you must come back to ecuador and wait for interview.

Good advice, BUT USCIS has no restriction about relatives doing translations. However, my wife does Russian and Ukrainian translations and will not do them for any procedure she is a "party" to. This is her own choice, not any rule or law. She feels it is unprofessional. She does do what she calls "pre-translations" and gives them to a local University professor to do up, which means, basically he copies them and applies his signature. Local university language departments can be excellent resources for translations, either by moonlighting professors or students who get credit for it.
