Awwww Booty - I know it must be hard to see your boys in this state. It killed me to see Enzo in the NICU - so small and defenseless, but it is amazing how they improve day-to-day. I don't know how much the boys are drinking with their feedings, but for us, it was wild to think how excited we got with every 10 ml that he would increase. When we started feeding him, he would only take 15 - 20 ml. By the time he left the hospital he was taking 60 ml, which is 2 ozs. :dance: He's now so strong, but I still look at him and think about how he almost died - how his heart bottomed out during fetal distress - after 3 days in labor, I wasn't prepared for an emergency c-section but it is always about saving the baby or babies in your case. You do what you have to do. :thumbs:

One other thing, have you checked the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte? I know that the mommy of Enzo's NICU roommate stayed there as she was from a neighboring county and would have to drive an hour each way. It was a wonderful resource for her during that difficult time.

Thank you for the suppport Staashi. I really appreciate it. The boys started out on 4 ml and are up to over 10 ml now. They get moved up every day on feeding. So it won't be long before they are up to 15 or 20 ml.

I am currently staying in the hospitality house that is right down the street from the hospital. I can stay here for up to 21 days. If the boys aren't out by then I can ask for an extension to stay longer. I'm being extremely optimistic they will be going home before I have to ask for an extension.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

Well, you know, I'm behind ya 110%, sister! :star: That is so great about their feedings...and it is cool to see those little milliliters go up. I will give you one little bit of advice - when it comes to getting your hopes up about them going home just put it in God's hands...those NICU nurses and doctors will release them when they are good and ready, and can survive on their own at your house. It is hard to leave the hospital without them and even though I was only out of the hospital for one night without Enzo, I was an emotional and physical wreck. My mother said that she had never seen me so upset. I felt so guilty for leaving the hospital without my baby, but I also realized that if they said he needed to be there, he needed to be there. Let the nurses get them perfectly stable and strong, and you and Javi will be good to go. :thumbs:

Awwwww, Congratulations Booty!!! :star::star:

Your babies’ names are beautiful. Your story and the NICU photos brought tears to my eyes due to all of the memories I have from when I delivered my daughter 10 wks premature. She stayed in the NICU 6 weeks (and the NICU nurses there were absolutely wonderful) but other than being 3 lbs 1oz at birth she was totally healthy. Still it was a horrifying experience going through it. When they decided that she would have to be delivered so early, I was a wreck with worry. Now with her just turning 6 (May 19th), looking back at the NICU pictures I can’t even believe how small she was and all that she had to overcome on her own though she seemed so fragile. Preemies truly are fighters.

Glad you and your boys are doing well. Hope their stay in the NICU is a short one. :luv:

I got to hold my babies today!!!!! I think I've never been more excited over anything. They started them on their room air trials today. They were off the c-pap for 3 hours and had no alarms go off. They will do it again tomorrow so hopefully it will go just as well also. Unfortunately Javi is still at home because he had to go back to work so he missed it. He's coming down tomorrow night though so hopefully he will get to hold them on Friday.

Staashi: I've had another preemie mom tell me the same thing about them going home. As much as I want them home I will let them stay in the NICU as long as is needed. I want them home as strong and healthy as they can possibly be. It is so very hard to leave them every night but I know they are in the best place they can be right now. I won't be selfish about it. Their health is more important than what I want right now. They'll already be a week old tomorrow so it's going by pretty fast. They'll be home before we know it.

Thanks again to everyone!

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I have many, many pictures of me holding them both yesterday. I just haven't gotten a chance to load them on to the computer. I'll try to get it done at some point today and get them posted. Thanks everyone!!!

Nessa-They really aren't that small for their gestational age and the fact they were twins. The doctors have said they were pretty good size and were impressed I had carried them considering how small I am. They all said, "where did you have those babies?" :lol:

I'm not sure if I mentioned this earlier or not either so I'll say it now. If I did sorry for a repeat. My boys are identical twins. We found out after they were born they are the most high risk type of twin pregnancy you can carry. I'm very lucky we made it as far as we did. God has certainly been looking out for us the entire time. I find it funny we did fertility treatments, had 5 possible eggs to fertilize, and ended up with one fertilizing and splitting into my two perfect little miracles. Absolutely amazing!
