I have made an infopass appt for tomorrow at 12:50, the last time I went I was totally fazed by the rude IO and said 'ok' to all her blunt answers. So this time I want to be prepared.

At the last appt she told me that my AP had been accepted on 04/07 - I still don't have it

All she told me about my I-485 was that it is 'pending', is there any other info she has on her screen I can ask about like 'what point is it at?', 'have my fingerprints cleared and been added', 'when was it last touched?', 'What dates of cases are being processed at this time?'

I just don't know what to ask to get a better idea of how far along things are, I can't see my case online and calling USCIS doesn't do anything.

It's 140 days since I filed for AOS from an F-1 visa.

Are you tracking this using the online system?

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

If case is at NBC, then look up I-485 processing time for your field office to get an idea when you will be interviewed.

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDis....do?type=office (Tucson shows currently handling I-485 filed back in October). Give it a couple of more months.

yes, I am tracking using that system.

I don't know where my case is at, the last time it was 'touched' was Jan 21st and at that time it was at MSC.

It is being held until your field office is prepared to do your interview, so give it a couple more months, your field office shows (October 2008) cases being worked on.

MSC = NBC.

If they were working on October 2008 cases then why did I receive a RFE for my I-485 in March? Surely it would have taken longer to receive an RFE if they were working on older cases.

Does anyone have answers to my questions?

MSC processes the case and if they find something missing they will RFE, the dates on the USCIS site has to do more with when the field office may start interviewing, your field office is interviewing I-485's filed before last October.

But if we look at these timelines we can see that there were 3 interviews of couples who filled after last October and there is one case, which was filled at the beginning of February and had interview at the end of April.

I think we all know that we can't trust on USCIS processing times.

Thanks, I didn't even know how to look at that! Should I ask about this at infopass? I just have this horrible feeling our folder is abandoned on a desk somewhere...

I don't think you can operate this data when you are talking with USCIS. It is just a forum.

But you can tell that you have a friend who filled in February and had her interview at the end of April. This small lie won't hurt anyone. But they can tell you that every case is differ from the other!

I also have feeling that my folder is abandoned. I don't have even EAD. I will be so happy to get it.

Exactly, you are right. Every case is different, they do not process in order they receive them.

They say they do like that, it is a BIG BULLS@@T !....They just process cases randomly,

and also another thing they do not have communication among offices within USCIS.

Believe me "Everything depends on your luck unfortunately !....."

I think your fingerprints must have been added to your file, seeing as you recieved an EAD card. They can't really tell you much at the local office. Your file is waiting in a line for processing. If they schedule you an interview, you will be sent a letter and your file sent to your local office.

An RFE may have slowed down your processing a tiny bit, but probably not much.

I guess you can inquire about the missing AP, and they may be able to help you with that.

Try not to worry about your folder just sitting somewhere lost. It's just sitting filed somewhere, waiting for it's turn to be handled by a human :). Here's hoping that your case is finished soon.

So this is what she did at my infopass appt, she called some number to talk to someone directly at the NBC (oh what I wouldn't give to get my hands on that number!) and ask them about it, they told her that they would send an e-mail to whoever is handling my case reminding them to send out the approved AP. The AP has been approved since 04/07 but I haven't received it yet. She also put this request in the official system so that I have a record of it. She also told me that my case was resumed on 03/11 after being put on hold for the RFE and receiving an RFE means that the clock starts again from when they received my evidence.

So now I feel a bit better knowing where I stand and if my AP doesn't get here in time then I can request emergency travel documents.

Obviously it woke someone up as I received my interview letter today! It might just be a coincidence but it is an odd one.
