At our wedding they gave me some odd things.

Cow tongue... which actually wasn't that bad.

but the thing that really got me was a sort of fish. It wasn't described to me very well but when served it looked like a whole fish and you took sections of it. No bones, still had eyes, just solid COLD meat. threw me for a loop but it really wasn't bad.

And speaking of puke served on a plate my wife made me some sort of fried cottage cheese with raisens the other day...

Fried cottage cheese with raisins? Who puts those two things together, I dont care what culture you are in, Someone had to first think of frying cottage cheese, and then they had to think "You know what would make this taste better....Dried up shriveled up grapes" I put that on the same level as baked yogurt covered with potted meat and peanut butter.

am I allowed to talk about mexican food in the russian forum

As I understand it, Mexican food has sour cream, Russian food has sour cream. Therefore, Mexican food is Russian food, and thus authorized.

 That's what I heard.

And actually, every Russian girl I've ever met - who hates (but secretly loves) pizza, gamboorgers, fried foooooo - they LOVE meksikanski anything. "I not will be eat this meat whis greasy nasty..... mmmmmmmm oooochin f'ksuna! Hachoo hachoo hachooo!" And if I had a dollar for every time I heard, "when you gonna be make again your takhos?" I'd be a rich man.

Yeah, but let's not forget, someone had to have the creative genius to create breaded deep-fried hot dogs on a stick, deep-fried mars bars, deep-fried oreos, - hey, wait a minute, I'm seeing a trend here. "Hey ya'll, watch this!" OK. I digress. Drunk rednecks really are good for something!

On behalf of my fellow Southerners I say, "Thanks for the 'shout-out'".

Of course, as a Louisianian, I'm kind of a special case. Many people around here eat things that even most drunk rednecks say "Oh HELL NO!" to....

anybody in the mood for some Nutria gumbo????:lol: Don't worry--- it tastes just like chicken!

how many times have you said 'HHHHHHamburgers" after you hear "gamboorgers?" it was cute at first, but does it ever stop? the only time he pronounces it correctly is when he calls me by my new, endearing nickname- "amburger." how cute. h is h. not g. that's the only language error that bothers me. everything else is got. i mean hot. of course he says- 'wait until you go to belarus.'

I have never heard gamboorgers my wife just calls them burgers on the grill. She doesnt like fried foods, except she wants to eat chicken wings all the time. I always get, its too spicy, it burn my throat, followed by a pathetic fake cough. I think pepper was introduced to the world shortly after salt. I just tell the wife to man up and deal with a little heat I cant eat food that has no taste all the time.

Vika has no trouble with the "h" sound, but seems to be in the minority. She says they drilled on the sound in college pretty well, and I guess it stuck. On the other hand, I still have huge problems palatizing consonents when speaking Russian.

We're to the point now where "H"amburger is what it's called when she's in the mood for one. If I want one (which is pretty much every day) it's back to being greasy, nasty, "G"ambooorger. The "G" is almost derogatory!

It seems that her accent can come and go as long as she's conscious of it. When she's speaking to certain people it's fairly week but when speaking to me or others, it's exactly how she feels like speaking. - Whis aksent, blat!

"amburger" is an awesome name! And, he's halfway to pronouncing (or not pronouncing) all those silent Hs in Spanish. "H"echo en Mexico. "H"amburger. Now you guys can claim to speak three languages in your house. Very important with the census coming up.

She doesnt like fried foods, except she wants to eat chicken wings all the time.

My wife is the same way. Hates all that greasy, nasty, fried stuff - but KFC is like kryptonite. She works at a chicken wing place right now and though she "hates" chicken wings, whenever I get them she seems to eat her fair share.

I just tell the wife to man up and deal with a little heat I cant eat food that has no taste all the time.

My wife likes the heat, so I'm good there. But, she does try to get me to eat food with no taste all the time. What are those things called? Oh yeah, vegetables.

On the other hand, I still have huge problems palatizing consonents when speaking Russian.

Well, it is kind of difficult when there are nine in a row.

Katya made some kind of fried cheese contraption. I wasn't paying attention to what she cooked, as I was afraid fried <insert daily product here> was going to be nasty. But it was really damn tasty, it was probably cottage cheese. With a side of some amazingly rich cream cheese. I was feeling sick that day, but man it was tasty.
