Travel without Green Card

My wife's Green Card was approved today and is in the mail. She's going back to Japan for her friend's wedding on Monday and has a travel document to use. Now, however, her Green Card has been approved but she probably won't be able to bring it with her because it hasn't arrived. Will her passport and travel document be OK? Is the travel document even useful anymore now that her Green Card has been approved? I would assume they can look her up and see that her Green Card has been approved on their computer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, she is perfectly fine to travel. It happened to me also. All they did was process me through secondary the same as usual. It would have been better to have had my husband courier me the card, though, because the delay caused me to miss my flight. They left me sitting for two hours because they had forgotten about me. But that's another story. icon2.gif

She should be fine, just make sure her passport has the I-551 stamp and you have your Advance Parole travel document, since your greencard hasn't arrived yet.
