Until you receive the Advance Parole it would be wise to not travel outside of the US.

Hello VJ!

I have a question,is it ok to go to Virginia BC since my AP application is still pending?

Love,

Ugou

You can go, but you cannot come back. You must have AP or Green Card to re-enter the USA

And let me be more clear, you probably cannot go until you have your green card. The AP is a re-admission to the USA, it is NOT a visa to enter Canada, but the green card WILL get you into Canada.

We live less than 10 minutes drive from the border, my wife got her AP and we promptly headed up to Montreal as she wanted to go shopping there and try to boost the GNP of Canada a few points all by herself. We were promptly turned away at "Les Douanes" as she did not have a visa to enter Canada and had to wait another week until her green card came (we actually got the approval of the AOS before the AP arrived, but the AP arrived while waiting for the GC)

Unless Canada has a VWP with Indonesia, you will not be able to enter Canada without a GC
