Its basically a statement of your earnings and withholdings for the year. Your employer is required to generate one every year for tax filing purposes with the state and IRS.

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive,and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Your husband will know what it is. He should be completing the paperwork for the affidavit of support.

Yes, his employer is responsible to produce a w-2. Your husband should already have it. :)

As stated the W2 is provided by employers to all of their employees. They are required by law to provide this to the employee by January 31st of the new year for the annual earnings for the previous year. It is sent in many forms but there are multiple duplicate parts, one goes with his federal income tax forms, one with his state tax forms, and one or more copies are for his records.

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!
