I believe that most folks on here have booked the plane ticket in the name on the passport.

If you book the flight in your married name, use your green card as ID to board the plane. Keep a copy of your marriage certificate when you re-enter, should be no problem. My wife did not change her name after marriage, but as long as you have evidence of the name change it is not a problem.

It's not truth. You have to book tickets for the same name what is in your passport (if you travel outside of usa). In usa you can use your state id with new name so you can book ticktes on your new last name.

i know ppl who got in trouble cuz they had different name on tickets and in passport

The airline CANNOT legally let you on the plane if your ticket is in a different name than your passport. Regardless if you have a copy of your marriage certificate with you or not. Your ticket MUST be in the same name as your passport name.

You will still need your green card to re-enter the US however, and the different name shouldn't be a problem.

As soon as you can though, you may want to update your passport with your new name.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!
