Hello again,

My wife is 4 months pregnant and we are worried that she may be required to take vaccinations and chest x-ray for the medical clearance part of the AOS. She is from Mexico and has had all the required vaccinations there.

I've searched the forum and have found a little information about this topic but wanted to see if the experts here knew anything further.

Thanks as always!

You can have the vaccinations transcribed onto the i-693 by a civil surgeon from the vaccination record obtaine in Mexico. She can also talk to her ObGyn about the effects of taking vaccinations so she can get a letter from him/her if needed. Hope this helps

Congratz!! I am 36weeks pregnant now and I did medical exam when I was about 5 months pregnant. I had to do same thing as well.

If your wife has been vaccinated with all required vaccinations in Mexico, get the English translation of the record then show to the civil surgeon. He/she can write your wife's vaccine records on I-693.

If TB skin test was positive, yes, your wife still needs to take chest X-ray. But I'm sure you don't wanna risk the baby :crying: So, get a letter from her OB/GYN that certifies your wife is pregnant, and due date, so it is not recommended to get X-ray at that moment. Bring the letter to civil surgeon, then he/she can include the note that your wife is not recommended to take X-ray and needs to wait after baby is born to do it. In my case, the civil surgeon just wrote down the note on I-693 then attached OB/GYN's letter then sealed it and gave to me so I can go ahead apply for AOS.

If you have interview appointment before baby is born, you will be asked to send I-693 again with chest X-ray (again, if it's required by getting TB skin test positive). If your appointment is after, get the chest X-ray and ask civil surgeon to write I-693 again then bring that to the interview. At least, that's what I have to do...and that's what Immigration officer has explained to me

I suck at explaining...hopefully it makes sense. good luck!

Just need to wait for him to come out now then I'll get the card!

We just picked up my husbands I-693 today ( his exam appt was Friday 4/17). He would only have had to have an xray had his TB test not come out positive, test spot fir TB was fine so no xray needed

Good luck to you both & much happiness

I am also from Mexico and I had my vaccines done in Mexico last year before coming to the US and when I applied for AOS

and went to transcribe my records from my vaccine card, they realized that I was missing only the mumps vaccine which is not

required in Mexico at this age, but mumps come also with Rubeola and Measels vaccines which you cant take while pregnant, so

for sure dont take that vaccine if she is pregnant! . I was not wanting to take the vaccine again and we were trying to get pregnant

and didnt want to wait again to not get pregnant. So I asked for a waiver for mumps because trying to conceive, the doctor is the one who did the document, he transcribed the vaccines and wrote the waiver and he gave me a sealed envelope with it and a copy for my records. I didnt have any problems with it, no RFE or anything and I just got my green card even without interview.

So based on my experience I would recomend:

Ask to a certified USCIS doctor to transcribe your vaccines and ask him to write a waiver for the vaccines missing because she is pregnant and send it with the sealed envelope in your AOS application. I dont think you will have any problem.

Hopefully this is helpfull!
