There is no significant population out there and there never was a housing bubble. There was no mad rush to move to the Great Plains. They have some oil and gas projects. Omaha is a bit of a hold out, but I believe just a hold out.

You'll notice that a lot of the areas hit the hardest were either heavily populated manufacturing/financial bases or overcooked housing bubble markets. Florida is an excellent example of the latter.

The states that have one person per state. No Jobs gained, therefore no jobs losses.

I can't find my county when I mouse over North Carolina, but considering the entire western half of the state is red, I'm guessing we've lost a lot of jobs

Unemployment rates in this half of the state have been in the double digits for a few months now.

For all the recent talk about Texas, they've weathered this pretty well compared to the rest of the country. Cities like Dallas and Houston have done well compared to cities of similar sizes on the coasts.
