   I PASSED!!!   Finally! After 22 months of wait, I can go home to my husband.

Thanks to everyone's help on VJ...the detailed description of the entire process was JUST as described and it helped a lot to know what would happen next.

The only thing I would add for people who are bringing their children to their interview is that they DO allow 1 drink (except water) and 1 snack per child and that they didn't ask for any of our x-rays.

The consulate doesn't allow big bags but they do allow big shopping bags. The x-ray and the xpressmail envelope are big so I put everything in the big Club Monaco shopping bag and they were ok with it.

My interview was under ten minutes and it seemed to be the average time frame for most everyone there.

The lady officer who interviewed me could not have been nicer. I wanted to cry when she approved me! I'm sooooo happy.

NOW~ WHEN WILL MY VISA ARRIVE???

She said to expect it within 2 weeks...what are your experiences? Those who have been approved a CR-1? I booked my flight for next Thurs. the 23rd because it would have been extremely expensive if I waited until now to book...rather than 6 weeks ago. I really hope to receive the visa before then.

I'm so happy I can't really think right now but if any of you have any questions that I can help you with, please post here or PM me and I will be glad to help.

Congrats! Such an exciting day for you all :star:

My visa arrived in exactly on week from my interview. Interview was on Friday, and xpresspost envelopment arrived the next Friday. I lived in Edmonton. I heard that they usually mail it out the next business day. So hopefully, since your interview was on a Thursday it goes out in the Friday mail?!

Check your tracking number. Like you aren't already doing that every 20 minutes anyways?

congrats! No one can exactly say when ur visa will arrive in the mail. 1 would think they would mail it off soon, BUT that is not always the case. Soem get it in a few days, some a week or two. And keep in mind Canada post isnt a speedy bunch, lol AND your tracking # may NOT work, so it may unexpectedly show up! Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

You might already know this but, IF your visa does not arrive by the time of your flight, you can get them changed for a fee. As bad as you might hate this, even with the change fees, it is still usually cheaper than bokking last minute flights. I know Continental was 100 dollars per passenger to do this. The fees vary with airlines. You can make these changes up to 24 hrs from your flight. Some will let you make them even closer to flight time. So if, god forbid, your visa doesn't arrive in time, DONT kick yourself in the butt for buying tickets ahead of time.

And CONGRADULATIONS!!! Welcome to US residency

My interview was on Wednesday and you are right, I've been checking every 20 min. and so far...nothing. I hope they send it out today and I will continue to track it throughout the weekend~

Really? The tracking number doesn't work sometimes? I don't have much experience with Canada Post...I've been living in the states since I was 18 so Canada is a familiar yet strange country for me.

I hope it unexpectedly shows up soon! haha~ Thank you for your help!

EXACTLY! This is why I booked the flight BEFORE the interview. 2 one-way would have cost $800 each if I didn't book it 6 weeks in advance. I got the tickets for $200 each (my daughter and I) and there will be a $50 change fee + fare difference. We're flying Air Canada.

Good reminder...I'm going to check and see when is the latest I can change my flight. THANKS!!!
