Sorry for the stupid question, but do I send my completed I129F to the USCIS or NVC first to get this rolling? I live in the DC area, but this is all new to me. If the USCIS, is it a certain field office that services my area? Thanks for this great website.

Check the instructions page(s) for the section called: "Where To File"

Hint, it's in Vermont...

p.s.,

Might be a good idea to study the Guides section (above) and check out the "Assembling the I-129F Package: Checklist" sections for some tips.

if you look to the form instructions it will tell you where and how much... BTW, it is neither a field office or NVC....

YMMV

Thank you both for the clues. Okay, so I guess I'll file at the:

USCIS

Vermont Service Center

Attn: I-129F

75 Lower Welden Street

St. Albans, VT 05479-0001

Wonder if this center is any quicker than the California center. Am I correct in that this is where the majority of the time is spent processing our petitions? Does anyone know exactly what they review when processing these petitions?

I believe I've seen some processing times of a couple of months from the Vermont Center. Wonder if it's just luck.

Again, thank you both for pointing me in the right direction.

That's just bad advice...

Which service center your petition must go is based on where you live, not where it is mailed from.

Ayup, and you would be misrepresenting information on the forms, where you signed saying it was all true...

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS
