K3 worked best for us bcz he needed to be here with me ASAP. It was a pain in the butt once he got here bcz he couldnt work at all until he got EAD which took about 5 months after his arrival date (about 2 months once AOS was applied for)

I hear CR1 takes alot longer but that you wouldnt have to adjust status or wait for EAD. Its a matter of how soon you want to be with your wife here and whether you can handle waiting to work or not.

Every situation is different but K3 was good for us! :star:

You need to do more research on how long it takes the embassy to give each visa applicant an interview, that's pretty much the hold up. The Service Centers may take just as long to process both petitions as well as the NVC, but once the cases are ready for the interview the embassies may give one type of visa an earlier date than the other. For the MOST PART, this is not a problem and taking the NVC shortcuts makes the CR1 visa faster than the K3. Not to mention less expensive.

We are choosing the K3 route mainly so he can interview in Montreal versus one of the embassies that service his country (Iran). I don't think I'd choose the K3 otherwise. So far I haven't seen it be much faster for most people here. Lately it seems both CR1 and K3 get approved together at the service centers.

At the time I did the K3 they were a LOT faster than the CR-1 . If I'd known what a pain in the butte and cost the K3 ended up being we'd have waited.

I'd DEFINITELY go with the CR-1 the way things are now.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Our K3 is already at the Embassy, but we are only going with the CR1. As noted, right now the service centers seem to be processing both petitions at about the same time. Both of our petitions were approved at CSC on the same day. Unless there is some special circumstance, the CR1 seems to be the better approach. Plus you save about $700 over adjusting status with the K3.
