Hi there community,

here is my situation, I recently got approved my K1 visa and got married a week ago. I am about to file AOS and but my address in the US has changed, do I need to submit the I-865 form for change of address or is changing the address on the actual I-485 sufficient?

Thank you for your help!!

It's required of a sponsor to fill out the I-865 the I-485 does not alleviate that requirement.

Don't you love bureaucracies?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

In practice - you're filing AOS and your sponsor submitting an I-864 is indeed sufficient - most in your situation do not also file an I-865. Besides the fact that the I-865 is intended for those who have filed an I-864 previously.

So if I do file my AOS and then soon after move, I will have to mail the I-865? Is there a fee for this?
