We are just about to send in our forms requesting an interview for my wife's k-3 visa. We have all but one of the documents completed, the DS-156, which IS required. The DS-156 asks "how long do you intend to say in the US" and "what is the purpose of your trip". We are not sure what to answer. Should we put down the length of the trip as being our next planned visit to her homeland? Do we put permanent (though we plan on living in her home country part of the time)? What about the purpose of the trip. We are married and she is coming to live with me.

Hello, just put in "permanent. will apply for an adjustment of status" for the question on length of stay and "to join my husband in the US (or permanently join my husband in the US) and be properly documented while in the US" for the purpose. what is more important is you have all the necessary documents needed and that your wife can prove to the consular officer the validity of your marriage.

hope this helps and that you guys will be together soon. best of luck!

God Bless!!!

In addition, look NOA2 for I-129F petition.

Just like to add correction: Your I-129F petition (instead, I used “visa” before) is valid for 4-months. K-3 visa usually valid for 10-years from date of issuance but I read some people get only 2-years or less visa.

If you are filing for K3 that means you are staying with your spouse so put Permanently not 4 months not 1 year not 2 years. Unless you have other agendas..lol
