I am preparing the I-149F form. Our first names doesn't fit in the boxes. So instead of filling it out using Adobe Reader, I am just going to write it down. I don't want my fiance to write it on his own for it would not turn out legible. Now, I want to know if it is okay if I signed in the E. part that says:

Part E. Signature of person preparing form, if other than above. (Sign below.)

I declare that I prepared this application at the request of the petitioner and it is based on all information of which I have knowledge.

Firstly, you're talking about the I-129F form? I've never heard of the I-149F form. Secondly, by all means write out instead of typing a legible name. If you're just writing out the name, and nothing else, I'd not be signing saying you prepared it. Your fiance has to fill out the G-325A form btw. If you're worried about the neatness of any of the forms, fill them out yourself, and have them sign in their own handwriting. If you're filling out the whole forms then I'd sign part E.

I-129F is the petition form that the petitioner should fill out. I will fill out everything because I am concerned about the neatness. Thanks for your answer.

It makes no difference who fills out forms. It only matters who signs them. Neither a petitioner or beneficiary would fill out or sign the section as having been the "preparer". That's for law offices or consultants etc.

Really it is not important who of the couple fills out what. Generally this "preparer" signature is for an attorney or other paid preparer and, yes, I know the instructions don't say that and I don't care.

In our case, my wife (then fiancee) signed TWO blank g-325 forms in case I messed one up (or something got lost in the mail) and gave me all her work information. I already had her only address in the last 20 years and family history information. I typed and printed the fiancee letter, she signed two identical letters. Anything requiring her signature was produced and signed in duplicate when I visited her about 2 weeks before we filed the petition. We also gathered ALL documents we would need for the interview at this time.

I (US citizen) prepared EVERY document for EVERY phase of this "journey". Prepared every translation (even though Alla would be able to translate herself) All forms were hand written by me (except typed letters) I typed the employment letter and had my employer sign it. I typed the bank letter and had the bank sign it. I gave them the letters and sat in their office while they prepared them while I waited. I left no possibility someone could "mess it up" or delay anything for even one second (except me and then I have no one to blame but myself). I went to the interview and brought all documents for Alla to sign. Same for the AOS. All documents were prepared before she arrived, I added the copies of things we needed after the wedding, she went for the biometircs and the interview. Everything else was handled by me. I never signed any "prepared by" signatures.

This was our decision, it was discussed and decided by both of us. I am a firm believer in this process that ONE person needs to grab the knobs and turn until the desired result is achieved. It is not a good project for a team effort. Way too many balls to get dropped.
