Okay until I started reading on here, I thought I was applying for a K3, but now realize that I am on track for a CR1 visa. The only "NOA" form I can find in my file is the one I received when they forwarded my file to the NVC - is that the 1 0r the 2? It was dated September 2, 2008.

Since then, they have told me on the phone that my file is all finished and ready to go to the embassy for an interview, but I haven't received any written notification. I can't figure out on the timeline how long I can expect for my interview to be scheduled.

Any insight?

If you are doing a CR-1 visa, and it sounds like you've finished with NVC, you're ready to be scheduled for an interview. I am having a hard time to fully understand your post though.

Your NOA2, would be the letter USCIS sent to you indicating that they have completed your file and transfered it on to NVC.

If you've submitted all the paperwork and fees requested by NVC, then you're at scheduling. When you call the # to NVC, they should give you a date that you file was complete. If you look at the other thread, people seem to have their interviews scheduled from 90-115 days after the date their file was complete.

Cheers,

Cat

In order to do a K-3 you need to file an I-129F and attach a copy of I-130 NOA1 letter if the I-130 has been approved and sent to NVC, FORGET the K-3.

In order to be doing CR1 your US Citizen spouse must have sent I-864 and fee to NVC, and you must have sent a DS-230 and required documents to NVC for processing.

Can probably help if you tell us which consulate you will be interviewing at?

I actually thought that the only interview option was at the Montreal embassy, but I'm not sure? They never asked me where I wanted to go, and my case starts with MTL. I live in Vancouver, so that would have been a lot more convenient.

I did send all my documents to the NVC, my husband did send in the affidavit of support, and i've paid fees. This has been dragging on so long, initial priority date was November of 2007, that I am starting to get fuzzy on the details. I didn't even know CR1 was an option. I am not very on the ball - I only just found my way to Visajourney.com.

I am needing to schedule a surgery for myself, leaving myself enough recovery time before having to travel to Montreal, so I'm really needing a rough ball park for my interview date, and NVC couldn't tell me anything.

So if my NOA2 form was from September 3, 2008, when could I expect an interview date roughly?

thanks for your help - i'll fill in my timeline info when I've figured out what each step

Montreal is the only Consulate that does CR-1 interviews. So Vancouver is not an option unfortunately.

If you need to schedule yourself surgery, then I would suggest doing that asap. At the time we got our NOA2 to the date of our interview was March, 15, 2008 and our interview was around August 26, 2008. It seems that recently, the interviews are taking slightly longer to schedule by about 30-60 days.

It all depends on where you are in the process. If you're actually done at NVC like the operator says, you should have your interview in 3-4 months, maybe a little longer. You can always email NVC an request that your interview occur after a certain date if you're planning to have surgery.

If you haven't actually completed the NVC process yet (ie: your DS-230 and fees haven't been sent), then you could delay returning those until you've completed your surgery and recovery.

Please note that you also have to schedule a medical appointment for your immigration process as well. There are only 3 cities in Canada that do them now. Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. Fortunately, you may be able to have your medical in your own city, rather than having to travel to have it done.

With a little more information we'd probably be able to give you a better time frame. Meaning, if you call NVC and write down the message that is recorded by NVC (ie: your case was completed on ___________ , or We have received your ____________ for processing).

Cheers,

Cat

Cat - thanks very much for your help. You are making me rethink being a dog person. How much time do I need to have between the medical exam and the interview to get the medical results back? I had thought they could be done within a couple of days of one another.

The message I have got is that my case was completed on February 5, 2009. Says to call if I haven't heard anything in 8 weeks.

Posted (edited)

If your case was complete on the 5th of Feb. you need to contact the embassy and see when your interview is chances are it is scheduled already. and it is suggested to give 10 days between medical and interview dates so no delay on interview day. Just a guess but i would think you are looking at a March or April date for the interview.

actually call NVC and ask for an operator.

It won't be March and probably not April either.

Yeah sorry rex, when I looked at your profile yesterday I didn't see any flag or timeline info, so wasn't sure if it was Canada.

Have a look at the Montreal timeline to interview thread, that will give you an idea of wait times between NVC and Montreal:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=2701442

And yes, you would contact NVC to see when/if your interview has been scheduled yet.
