Please pardon questions from a new guy that was shocked at the news of RFE's, and 10,000 applications being shelved.

I sent our I-29F on March 13, 2006. I recieved a Notice of Action dated March 16, 2006. I have signed up for email updates and have recieved nothing. I keep on checking the date the Calif. Service Center is working on and it remains Feb. 3 as of 6/13/06. I read the article regarding the RFE"s last Wednesday and found this site. Should I be calling the Service Center? What is being "touched"? Best Wishes from a nervous new guy, John

Being touched means someone at your Service Center touched your case.

You´ll know that by the last date they updated the status of your case, when you check online.

My receipt date is from March also.

My NOA2 is from April and I haven´t got any information since my case was "approved" by then.

Nothing is normal right now.

CSC is the only Service Center with an email address.

I would send them an email if I were you, since their phone officers don´t usually know much about it.

good luck.

Hi John

Don't worry. You will rarely receive an actual email upate unless it's big news like they transferred your petition to another location or when you are approved. But if you check the online status you will see if the "last update" date has changed - this is being touched. It indicates someone did something with your file - picked it up, moved it to another pile, actually worked on it, etc.

No need to be nervous - they have just now started to send out RFEs and so far no one here who filed in California has gotten any notification that theirs is on the way. Only Vermont.

I don't think there is a way to actually reach a live person at the service center in CA (if anyone has a phone number, please post it) but you can email them at: CSC-XII.129F@dhs.gov. Not really sure if they will respond - I sent a message last week to ask for information on when they are going to send the RFEs and in what order are they going to process and haven't heard back yet.

Hopefully our RFEs are coming next week so we can sign them, send that back and finish with this!!!!

Hope this helps

Think positively! You will get the NOA2 quick. Of this, I am very confident. The IMBRA thing was a stumbling block, but USCIS realizes that and will diligently work to rapid resolution on all cases. We must all have an optimistic outlook. USCIS does read this board you know!!!!

You really think someone actually reads this board? I know there was a person from the Mexican consulate reading the Immigrate2us.net site a while back -- he was only "discovered" because he complained to a lawyer who posts there when she mistakenly posted their "lawyer only" email address and they were bombarded with emails. But if they were really reading these boards, they would have a clue about how much their screw-ups, lack of information and general lack of response affects people. And one would *think* they would have made changes based on the level of feedback they were able to gather.

I guess I don't think it's true that they read here - or care what we say - because if that were the case they would have actually sent USC petitioners information about their IMBRA #### up from the very beginning, and would have provided SOME kind of information on what was ahead.

Just my two cents . . .

Well, Think what you want, a benefit of being American.

Yes, these "people" are actually human, believe it or not. Although most believe they are robots.

No, I do not work for USCIS. If I did, I would not be waiting, right?

I am convinced that they read these boards to check their own progress and the overall public perception.

Think about it, would you not check if you worked for USCIS? I am certain that I would.

Survey call here. Anyone? Who would check?

I feel like I just stumbled upon the "large print" VJ message board.

Yup, I'd definitely check. There's nothing I'd enjoy more than reading insults about myself.
