Probably a fine would be most appropriate. But then again, look what happened to tv-links.co.uk. The owner was initially arrested, and the site was forced to shut down. However, after the hysteria from the recording industry died down, It suddely occured that it's not illegal to provide links to another site that has illegally hosted copywritten material. No charges have been filed.

They have just started a trial in sweden against thepiratebay.org. Should be interesting to see how this one pans out.

I would feel more compassion for the MPAA, if they weren't a group of heartless, money grubbing douchebags out to squeeze every penny they can

I was doing some reading up on thepiratebay.org website you mentioned and came across this - In September 2008, the Swedish media reported that the public preliminary investigation protocols concerning a child murder case known as the Arboga case had been made available through a torrent on The Pirate Bay. In Sweden, preliminary investigations become publicly available the moment a lawsuit is filed and can be ordered from the court by any individual. The document included pictures from the autopsy of the two murdered children, which caused their father Nicklas Jangestig to urge the website to have the pictures removed.[34] The Pirate Bay refused to remove the torrent.

This is just wrong, Im going to stay tuned to this to and see what happens and hopefully they get closed down. I wonder why sweeden has thes laws

They are civil libertarians. I think it's in poor taste, but it's also freely accessible material that can be legally obtained. Even if they are shut down, another site will or has popped up. Most are now taking more precautions such as demonoid.

The recording and film companies not only screw the consumers by overcharging, they frequently screw their own constituents (filmakers and recording artists). I have no sympathy for them.

The ability to buy someone else's intellectual property rights or have them signed away is just a strange idea to begin with.

The record and movie industries are hardly "victims". They've been screwing over the paying public for years.

I blame the theaters, holy hell 6 dollars for a small bag of popcorn!!!

Blame the Irish...it just feels better.

but if I keep that up what will be left to blame on the jews?

Yes another will pop up and then you go after them, I dont think we just give up on it because there will be more to replace it. We could say that about any crime. Now if you dont think it to be wrong and think we shouldnt deem it a crime thats a different debate.

So does that mean AXXO is a modern day Robin Hood?

I don't think of him as Robin Hood, but....... would anyone care if he was stealing from an unscrupulous person like Michael Madoff? It's not a primary concern to our justice department, nor should it be.

I was joking. I dont think stealing should be tolerated rather its Michael Madoff or Mother Teresa. As the saying goes dont sink yourself down to thier level.
