Ok, I have searched and read all over the Forum and FAQs, so if this question has been askeda lready I do apologize. I understand the 90 days to get married, but it is uncler to me any way, when does the 90 days begin? Does it begin the day of the approval or 90 days after entry into the U.S.?

The reason I ask is my GF is in school and when we get approved, we would like her finish the semester she is in b4 coming to the states. Payato

it begins 90 days after you enter the US! When the visa is granted you have 6 months to use it.

Once the K1 is issued, she had 6 months to enter the U.S. You must marry within 90 days of her entry. So it could be that you get married 6 months + 90 days after the visa is issued. I wouldn't wait until the last moment for either entry or marriage. Leave yourself some breathing room in case of delays.

Congratulations, BTW! We have similar stories and circumstances. I don't mean to worry you but how were you able to get her past the interview without her stating her intent to marry you? (I'm asking this based on your profile comments). If she hasn't had her interview, I would recommend that you both realize that your intentions to marry need to be known by both of you and stated so. Just my two cents. ;)

Do not let my profile mislead you. The intent is there and we both have the letters of intent. I did not ask her to marry me over the phone, email, chat or by letter as that is so impersonal in my opinion. She understands the actual act of asking her to marry me has not occurred, but the intent is there. It is just a technical issue really.

For the purpose of the application, we have agreed to be married. I just want to do the traditional thing and ask her in person and get her response in person. We have talked about this at length and both agree. :o

I have not filed the 129 yet, that should be going out next week as I was waiting on the new 129 and a few things from my GF. I am a little old fashioned I guess and will not call her my fiancee until I actually ask her the question and get her answer in person. Just me and the way I am. Payato B)

Ah ok. Someone who has gone through the interview could probably verify this better than I can, but just so it's clear to her during the interview if she is asked the date of the official proposal, you both have a corroberated answer. I'm basing this on some of the testimonies from people here. The interviewer can ask some pointed quiestions like that.

I think a proposal in person is really nice, but in this case, it might be a little tricky when it comes to the visa process.

Hihi,I always had the impresion my fiance was kinda old-fashioned and then he ended up prposing to me on the phone. BIG surprise and still very romantic. When we met the next time in person, I got my ring and he asked me again, this time in person, lol.

Just saying, I don't regret it happened like this...

I will actually be there for 4 days in Sept, around labor day and will propose then if the timing is right. With the time California is taking with the applications it could be Dec before they even get to our application. Payato

i think a proposal in person is so romantic but if certain circumstances won't let that happen...over the phone would still be great. just make sure you repeat your proposal next time you see her in person. my fiance made sure he did it in person and it was so right...by the beach, under the moonlit sky with the perfect ring. i would have said yes anyway even if he proposed in McDonald's without a ring but don't tell him that. hehe :D

i read your profile comments too...so true...that's exactly what happens when you're not looking. that song..."i didn't know i was looking for love...until i found you" is so right on with us too.

irishgirl and Payato,

Actually the 90-day period to get married begins on the day of entry, and ends - not begins - 90 days after one enters the USA.

Yodrak

Ok, I have searched and read all over the Forum and FAQs, so if this question has been askeda lready I do apologize. I understand the 90 days to get married, but it is uncler to me any way, when does the 90 days begin? Does it begin the day of the approval or 90 days after entry into the U.S.?

it begins 90 days after you enter the US! When the visa is granted you have 6 months to use it.
