I wouldn't be buying her a gun anytime soon.

Although she is right shooting street signs is pretty stupid. :D

No doubt. We will visit the range some time soon though.

The only signs you're "supposed to" shoot are the ones with the deer on them.

If the government is going to force me to exercise my "right" to health care, then they better start requiring people to exercise their Right to Bear Arms. - "Where's my public option rifle?"

always wondered about the rules for shooting road signs were.

I lived in the NorthEast and there was a town called Sharon. It was more on the hick side of the NorthEast and they had a problem with folks shooting the street signs. The city council in their "infinite wisdom" decided to erect a sign declaring the activity illegal. The sign read, "No Shooting in Sharon". Needless to say this then became the most popular sign to steal. :)

I had no idea people even did this. I must be living in the wrong parts of the country.

Or you're living in parts of the country where citizens are now known as subjects. (Unarmed citizen = subject. Think about it. Seriously. Do they have to listen to you when they're armed and you're not?)

Slim: So are you saying we are "Subjects of the Briti...American Empire" ?

Why do you think they're starting to label certain groups of citizens as "threatening", "dangerous", "possible extremists" or even "at risk to conduct terrorist activity?"

There was a group of men in Boston back in '74 who were placed on a Tory Enemies List. Didn't work out so well for the British. The current administration knows well the ramifications and repercussions of what happened when Gage sent his boys out to collect arms. Alphabet soup agencies try it again.... same result only on a much larger scale.

See, the thing is, every single politician knows they can't disarm us. However, it's a lot easier to enslave us in front of American Idol and Dancing with the Stars than to fight us at Merriam's Corner.

...... and the downward spiral continues......

The new suspect list I saw passed around was ridiculously broad. I'm not saying I approve of any suspect list, but this list would encompass both supporters and critics of the current, past and future government. Take, for example, the "interested in organic gardening" idea. That could span all the way from librul hippies to crazy conspiracy theorists. it also encompasses a vast majority of home gardeners, who are often after growing things for a purely hobby or taste issue standpoint. It's a weird list to me.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Unless a radical change to the bill of rights is enacted.

Are you saying you DON'T VOTE for the American Idol or Dancing with no-names every week????

And that's the whole reasoning behind it. If it "can" include anyone, then anyone the govt. deems unfavorable at the time can be put on the list and dealt with accordingly.

Vika and I are in Nashville now - and packin'. We discussed it, and thought my CCP would work if we were questioned. Better safe than sorry - to paraphrase Slim.

Kentucky CCDW is recognized by Tennessee. They have a reciprocity agreement so you should have no problem whatsoever if questioned. To be honest, I'd rather be safe than sorry when carrying, but the one place I will not carry is a state where it's illegal to do so. From Ohio on down to Florida every state is good to go with the exception of Georgia. If I'm driving down there, I'll stop, unload and clear, and then secure it in the trunk or a case. Usually when I travel out of state I'll have at least one rifle in the back of the Jeep so I feel pretty safe. I like having my pistol on my side, but having the AR in the back makes me feel a whole different kind of good!

Like criminals, the gun buster sign doesn't necessarily deter me from entering while armed. I'll try, but I'm not going to go out of my way to secure my handgun before entering a place where it's only a "suggestion" that I don't carry. A state that doesn't recognize reciprocity is different because the whole concealed carry animal is grounds for federal jail time and I won't get anywhere near that for something as simple as having my pistol on me. Like I said above, if I feel the need for "more protection" I'll have the shotty or a rifle in the back with ammo close by. Not the same as carrying, but still better than nothing.

The fight for the privilege of carrying in other states is not something to be won from the driver's seat of your car - it's to be won on the floor of a state house building. (And you can't carry there, either!)

I am aware there is reciprocity here Slim - and also wouldn't carry here without it being legal. The fact that you have a valid CCP won't stop the police from questioning you though - and officers (especially appointed ones like deputys outside the cities) have been know to be less than knowledgeable on the subject.

Yeah, cops just enforce the laws, they don't actually have to know them!
