Adultery- sex with someone with whom you are NOT married.

I live in a place where it's legal to take a ride from a stranger of the opposite sex and I STILL wouldn't dare to do it, so what does that tell us about this woman who was raised in this super ultra conservative culture? Quite a careless rebel? Sure no one deserves to be raped, but she must be deviant. I'm sure she'll survive.

I don't think it really matters what the definition of "adultery" is or at least, whatever fits our definition. The laws regarding this are simply ways of keeping women under control.

Probably get atttacked for this...but it is possible that the girl voluntarily had sex with a boyfriend and then got pregnant...and when she or the family found out, tried to turn it into a "she was raped" story. Don't believe the hype. They are alot more free than you think. And ALOT of Saudi girls (and married women) have boyfriends in secret. Check out the article that was on MSN for Valentine's day...all the guys and girls that buy their boy/girlfriends Valentine's gifts in secret. Just logon to Paltalk, Myspace, or Facebook and you will see what I'm talking about...not as "oppressed" as you would like to think.

You have a GREAT point there.I know of a particular case where a lady arranged a marriage for her daughter with a guy she had the hots for just so they could be close. Talk about keeping it in the family. You forgot to mention yahoo 360,they get pretty hot and steamy on there also.

Thanks for the offer dude, but we LIVE here (Saudi). You blowing me and my family to kingdom come cuz of this case? If you wanna be a hero how bout you demonstrate that you can clean up your own streets before you clean up the streets here. Start somewhere really fun, like say Compton, Detroit, or New Orleans. Get yourself really noticed, hero, then straighten out the rest of the world. Geeeze. Please, show the world that you can stop the drugs, rapes, murders, shootinge, stabbings, assaults, muggings, and thefts in just one of your own cities. Me? I thinky your mouth is writing checks that you, your police, your courts, and your jails can't cash.

More typically, the culprits are witnesses for each other so they go free. You can find literally thousands of these cases on the web. Have a friend that is bugged by this and always sending me stuff he finds. What am I suppose to do about it? If I had a B-29 and a Big Boy, could fly over and blow the country to kingdom come.

Stoning women for adultery is as old as the bible itself, Mohamed really loved that part and they do not have separation from religion and state.

i don't get it.

Maybe we could discuss your deviance instead.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Interesting points. And you know what, after seeing the other extreme since moving here where people can literally do as they please, I would take some law and order anytime. This is one of few countries I have been to where I can guarantee within the week you will hear about 5 murders in the nations capital. Murders. Not floggings but murders.

I have been to Saudi Arabia and can say without doubt that I could leave a child on the corner of a street (with food etc) for a week without fear of it being touched let alone kidnapped. Actually, people would come feed the child. Here? forgetabout it. Give it an hour and some sick #### would take them. How many drives-by's do you guys have in SA? Saudi Arabia has one of the lowest murder rates in the world.

PS Saudi Arabia also has one of the the lowest rate of rapes in the world.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I think the disturbing thing for me here is that this is not some bizarre anomaly, but that this has indeed happened before to women there and pretty much with the same result.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/11/17/saudi.rape.victim/

Regarding the case in the link, not the OP, she was NOT punished for the rape incident. She was initially convicted but that was overturned and she was then convicted for having premarital sex with her boyfriend and being with a male non-relative. Her boyfriend was also raped in the incident.

The laws are the laws there.

Can we say our open-ended (literally) do as anyone pleases laws are any better? Reading the daily paper local paper seems to suggest the contrary. A murder in SA is as common as someone winning the $300 million lottery here.

I understand that the crime rate was pretty low in Saddam Hussein's Iraq - that doesn't mean we should idealise totalitarian regimes with barbaric justice systems.

No I prefer the UK system where they would probably let the rapist off for excuses such as: being drunk and horny (full or testosterone) after a footy match.

Nothing wrong with administering appropriate justice for those who need it. Leniency does not work and our version of the death penalty does not work. Corporal punishment is the way to go. While I don't agree on it in this case I sure as hell do agree with it being used, for example, in a case of a child rapist. Anyone who deliberately harms others, should be forcefully harmed back. Even a moron will learn (quick smart) not to do it again. Whereas prison does not work and the death penalty ensures they are not around to suffer. Both failed models.

You seem to idolise totalitarian governments with limited freedoms. I don't.

The US could cut crime to zero if the President implemented martial law. That doesn't mean its a good idea.
