Maire,

I think the NOA2 exp date just means that he must have interview for visa before then. And like someone else said, if they don't schedule interview before that, they'll do automatic extension. Does this sound right to others? Once you have the visa, the 6 month clock starts.

So, who all have interview dates already? Very exciting! Still back here waiting for NOA2. :(

We're still waiting for our NOA2 chelartie. If its not today for me I get to choke my roommate unconscious. I would like to point out that he is one of my training partners and not just an act of barbarism.

There are several time frames. The date on the NOA2 is for the interview. Once approved you get 6 months to move. Once you set foot on american soil you get 90 days to marry. Once married I think you 90 days to Adjust status. But if you get married after the first week you still have to adjust status in 90 days. So married at the 90 day mark and AOS with in 90 days is 180 days but if married after 1 week then AOS with in 90 days is 90 day 1 week. make sense?

no no, you don't have to apply again THE only way you would have to apply again is if it is revoked, but that won't happen. He should be in the United States before October 6 if you are saying the interview is in September, but if the embassy needs to do some more processing, they will extend the visa time frame. Don't worry girl, once the interview is successfully completed, he will be here before October 6

This is my understanding as well. No, Maire, you won't have to repeat I129F process!

Lee, I hope for your and your roommate's sake that it's there today!

The October 6 date doesn't matter once he has the visa. It's then the 6 month from visa-issue date that matters.

It's OK Maire. You have until Oct 6 to have the interview, yours will be in Sept so you are good. Once he gets the visa, he has 6 months to get the exit permit and arrive in Miami. When he arrives in Miami you must marry in 90 days. Once you are married you have 90 days from the date you are married to AOS. get it ?

yeah it's just the standard time frame of 4 months approval, but from what I know, before October 6, the beneficiary gets an interview date and usually the visa is stamped on the passport at the time of the interview or the passport gets sent to the beneficiary within 2 weeks.

Thats right, a chain of events from one date to the other... the good thing though is that once the SO arrives everything else is done together... making things much much better!!!!

he should be there before October 6, but if he gets selected for AP then the consular officer extends that day so the visa is still valid

This is NOT correct! The NOA2 has is valid for scheduling an interview to get the visa. If needed, the consulate can and will (usually automatically) extend this if you have an interview date scheduled that is after it. AFTER a visa is approved and issued (by the US Dept of State, NOT the USCIS), the Visa holder has 6 month to enter the USA before it expires.
