I'm only 13% gullible... and that's only because I will help someone who asks for it no matter who they are... if somebody tells me they're hungry/need food, I'll give them some because I'd hate to think of being in their situation. I don't care if they're trying to pull one over on me - it's just a sandwich or five bucks, not a million dollars! If somebody wants to make their 'job' standing by the side of the road begging, more power to them! It can't be much fun in Florida.

Have you ever been conned out of any money?

Was conned out of my VA benefits from the USA due to some kind of fire in St. Louis burning my records, even though I had all the originals, and feel I am being conned every year with my property taxes for what little benefits I am receiving.

How come they are not accepting your originals? Many people's records at St Louis were lost [not mine, thank God-before my time, I think, but I know many at the vet organization I belong to that were]. Plus, if you have a VA award letter, that suffices for the property tax break here in Texas ( it's not much here [15,000  ]).

Best of Luck and I would honestly keep pushing this issue with the VA/ your property tax office if I were you. :)

eta-I edited and edited for spelling, etc---I need more coffee!

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

I did get a letter of apology when Clinton was president out of the clear blue sky, but no refunds on the tuition I paid myself to go to college. Didn't try going back to see what happens, but am considering getting a degree in basket weaving.

Do go to my local VA hospital once a year, but they don't have anything there, think maybe one bottle of APC's, required to go once a year to keep it up, they count my fingers and toes and tell me, I am okay.

Please don't take this as snarkiness...It's not, but why didn't you "go back to see what happens" ( I took that to mean you didn't challenge the VA on whatever it is you have been diddled out of-correct me if I am wrong).

I have been diqued about by the VA too; but you have to be your own best advocate. The VA (govt) won't automatically recognize what you are due- the burden of proof is on you. Yes, it sucks to be treated like a used dishrag after honorable service, but it's common knowledge that is exactly what happens. No, it's not right, but the more people who are complacent with abhorrent treatment after the sacrifices they've made the worse it gets and so the sh!t cycle continues.

I too got a flag and a letter from Bill, medals out the wazoo and a 'so sorry'....whoop de doo. But at the end of the day ....What they are really saying is " Thanks for all you've done, now you're injured you can kiss my bum..." It's not right.

Sorry to go on and on... I work with the DAV [in my spare time] and this particular thing is a hot topic with me. All the best to you. :)
